L'International des Feux Loto-Québec, also known as the Montreal Fireworks Festival, is a major international fireworks competition. It has been held yearly in La Ronde over the Dolphins lake, since 1985, and is named after its main sponsor, Loto-Québec. The display is hailed as the most prestigious and largest fireworks festival in the world. It hosts an estimated 3 million each year, with approximately 6,000 fireworks set off during each show.
Each summer, eight or nine pyrotechnical companies from different countries present a 30-minute long pyromusical show, competing for the Gold, Silver and Bronze Jupiters or trophies.
The competition takes the form of a series of biweekly fireworks shows usually beginning in late June and ending in late July. The fireworks are synchronized to music which is also broadcast over a provincial radio station (RockDétente in 2005, Rythme FM 2006-onwards). Spectators can purchase tickets to have reserved seats in La Ronde: they can buy them on site, on-line or through the Admission group to obtain an exceptional view of the lower altitude display and the whole perspective. However, tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of people watch the fireworks for free from nearby locations. The shows are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning end of June until end of July.
I took this picture on a free nearby location which was on the Jacques Cartier Bridge. I had to go to the top of the bridge 3 hours before the show started because good spots were fast been taken. The overcrowded bridge was not able me to put tripod and to avoid the traffic lights which was hanging on the top of the bridge.
Using longer exposure and tripod would have delivered a better image than this one but the situation was not possible for me to do that. Thank for viewing......

I never dared to take fireworks shot as the success appears to me difficult. You seem to be at ease though because your shot is very nice and the moment of expansion is well caught. The image is quite clear and I like the small clouds of smoke on the black sky.

This is a very good photo, especially considering you didn't use a tripod. Perhaps more effects would have been possible with a longer shutter time, but this is certainly good enough, and remarkably sharp. I like the inclusion of the two arrows of the traffic signs. They have become an amusing part of the show.

The fireworks are always a fantastic subject for the photography. Like the way you managed the scene with strong color contrast and good exposure to present the move. TFS!
