Photographer's Note

This photo was taken on the banks of the Lachine Canal. This canal was an important place of Canada's industrial development. The name "Lachine" comes from the fact that at the arrival of the French in Canada, they looked for a way across Canada to China. "La Chine" means China in French". The abandoned structure does represent the industrial past of this part of town. Today, many of these old industrial buildings has been converted into condo building. Now a national park, the navigation canal is now reserved for boating and sports.

Bonjour Réjean,

Celui-là a des croûtes à manger avant de devenir un condo, mais il est l'exemple que la rouille peut être autre chose que la laideur lorsqu'elle est bine présentée. Les graffitis amènent une touche de variété. Très belle image avec ce beau ciel bleu, des couleurs bine saturées et une très bonne netteté.

Meilleures salutation et bon séjour à Lévis.

Hello Rejean,
I like very much your composition that uses the space of the vertical frame in a well balanced and effective way. We get to see two sides of the intriguing construction which has acquired a strange and irresistible appeal in its present state while it has kept an echo of its once distinctive features. I also like the way you used the light and captured the riscness of all the chromatic tones and the shadows. The textures, the contrasts and the black openings are superb. Bonjour Réjean,

Je n'en reviens pas de voir à quel point les grafiteurs prennent des chances avec leur vie pour laisser leur signature en quelque part. La contre plongée donne beaucoup d'ampleur à cette structure rouillée.

Un cadrage plus serré sur un bâtiment que tu nous as déjà présenté . Et toujours cette belle palette de teintes rouille contrastant avec le ciel d'un bleu profond .

Un immeuble qui pourrait disparaitre bientôt. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de cet immeuble décréprit. La lumière a un bel effet sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Another nice shot of the decay along the Lachine Canal, Rejean. Nice rich colors on this tower, which help some of the graffiti to stand out in good light.

I think you posted a similar photo with the converted condo's right?
I'm a huge fan of such industrial sites. I could spend all day photographing these subjects.

love the rust, it totally enhances the photo with its vibrant colors.

An excellent example of industrial photography. Superb strong colours and textures. The vertical frame is well-suited and the I like how you have cropped it quite tightly to concentrate on the details.

Je me coucherai plus savant, ayant appris les origines de l'appellation "Lachine". De nos jours, pas besoin de se casser la tête pour y aller; ils viennent à nous par tous les moyens et leurs marchandises!
Voilà une preuve que le délabrement peut être attrayant quand il est référé au passé industriel de Montréal avant l'exode des manufacturiers vers...la Chine!
