Photographer's Note
This photo was taken on the banks of the Lachine Canal. This canal was an important place of Canada's industrial development. The name "Lachine" comes from the fact that at the arrival of the French in Canada, they looked for a way across Canada to China. "La Chine" means China in French".
The main function of the Lachine Canal was to allow the bypass rapids on the St. Lawrence River. This channel is still used today by boating. Commercial navigation now uses the sea which allows the passage of larger boats. This photo was taken at the lock.

Amicalement

Hello Rejean,
I like always of canal pictures, we see clear the angle of the superwide lens, but absolutely not disturbing.
Nice depth and perspective image.
Excellent composition, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John.

You found a really perfect POV for an expression of the canal as it currently functions, Rejean. We can see the structure of the canal itself here, but the line of powerboats and the recreational joggers, walkers and passers-by give us a sense of how the space is now used.

Hi Rejean
Your excellent narrative made for interesting reading of this canal and lock system, along with your photo. I really like the detail you have captured in this lively image, it's neat to see other parts of the world that I have never been to like this. Wise use of medium wide lens resulting in immense depth and perspective while the while white boats not only lead through but also add the general contrast. Specks of vivid colors are effective to click our sense as wel. This is informative image full of interest, and thks to your effort, Congrats.
Best regards

Bonjour Rejean,
The Lock area of the canal is always intriguing me, as we do not have such sceneries in Israel.
On the way to China, must cross the lockers... you made me lough a bit this morning.
A good POV show with depth, inspite of low light conditions.

Réjean
In TE often arise forms of search for identity.
Three great nations (GB, Fr, Spain) in search of teeritori.
The presence of a huge community "speaking" and a wealth of knowledge of inland waterways, lakes and channels.
Great shot, etmologica presentation, and finally integration of historical elements.
thanks

Réjean,
Great point of view to emphasize the size of the canal. I like how everything leads into the centre of the photo. Nicely composed.

Bonjour Rejean
I like the leading lines in this shot that take your eye right down the canal. Presumably this was some kind of locks at some point?
The note explains the reason for the canal and it reminds me of the Caledonian canal in Scotland that spans the country from Inverness to Fort William passing through Loch Ness on the way.
TFS
Mike
