Photographer’s Note
Leaving Ontario to Quebec, along the 401 East/Est, on the road to Montreal.
The long North American roads, under giant sky full of clouds.
An homage to the David Lynch movies.

Hi Paolo
The b&w gives this an aged look. Good lighting, perspective, contrast & tonal range. Tfs!

Very beautiful Paolo. Love the title and David Lynch too. Your sepia conversion is very good and add a lot of character to the scene. I probably have composed it a bit more to the left, trying to put the road sign a bit more into the right third thus breaking the road in the bottom left corner. Great shot!

ciao!

Ciao Paolo,
Excellent image, the viewers eyes are led into the center of the photograph. Your composition is perfect. Sepia tone and dramatic sky are a nice touch. I have driven this highway many times between Toronto and Montreal, but I've never seen an image of this road as good as this one. Well done.

Ah, the open road, and it looks great under that angry looking sky. This could have been made for black and white, and saying that, I personally would have preferred it in straight black and white rather than sepia. That's just my taste though.
I think this would have been even better if you had taken a pace to your left so that the white line at the edge of the road was leading in from the corner.
This is great though, I like it.
Cheers,
Ben

Hello Paolo,
Un bien bel hommage!
Le sepia convient très bien à cette photo, lui donnant un air inquiétant.
Le ciel est superbe. Un tout bon pov qui donne une belle perspective.
Well done

Hi Paolo.
The "old" atmosphere created here is lovely. It's a lovely homage to Lynch because the view is similar to his strange style.

A good reference to David Lynch, Paolo and the b&w is perfect for that. Good perspective of the never ending straight road, but the main attraction here is that sky. May be I would include a bit more of it and a bit less foreground. Love the inclusion of the sign. Well done!

belle nuvole! pesano sempre come macigni, quelle americane.
bello che tu abbia preso una nuvola nera proprio nel centro, lì in alto.
bel colpo!!

Una foto "old style" molto bella Paolo, ottima fattura, manca Kerouac e che la strada si chiami Route 66 :)
Complimenti.

Ciao Paolo. Interesting ... when I opened the photo, I thought "David Lynch" - then I read your note ;-). I think the post-work turned out really well on this one, converting a roadside Canadian highway impression into an image that is reminiscent of a still from a road movie. Fine contrasts and gorgeous tonal range in the b&w, and good perspective along the not-so-busy Quebecoise highway.

Ciao Paolo - and thanks for this shot well achieved, I find the road sign very strong here, and it reminds me of my dream of a coast to coast in Canada... excellent sepia, although I also believe B&W could have been interesting too... Regards, Daniel

Very good - I like the sense of depth & distance created by the road & also by that cloudy sky as it sites over what appears to be a flat landscape. The B&W treatment works well, nice tones & good contrast, the trees appearing as black silhouettes against the lighter colours of the sky.

hi paolo
the sepia works really well here because it accentuates the contrasts. so many things to look at and like to; clouds, horizon, positioning. for this type of shot, i'd almost say you've pulled off the perfect shot for it. well done!

Hi Paolo,
Typically American environment here, I like very much environment "Road movie". The black and white treatment is appropriate very well and gives to the sky another relief. Beautiful composition, cheer.

Ciao Paolo, mi ricorda un vecchio film con Peter Fonda di cui non ricordo il titolo, grande prospettiva della strada, bellissimo il cielo ed affascinante la conversione in seppia con una tonalità molto delicata, bravo, ciao Silvio

Hi Paolo,
Yes, this is certainly typical of many of our N. American highways, and your shot reminds me of scenes of the famous Route 66. I like the choice of B&W here. The depth is very good, the vehicular traffic well placed, and the perspective well chosen. The sign helps balance the frame. Very well seen and captured.
