Photographer’s Note
Since March 09 2004. The demolition of GM in Boisbriand, Quebec keeps going on, 39 years after it's opening. Here is a panoramic view of five assembled photos. For a nice historic text on GM, see Martine picture at: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/Canada/photo48774.htm

I'm surprised they are demolishing it. Typically they just leave the buildings to rot out as they've done here in Detroit. And it's such a new plant, relatively. I think this one really shows the scale of deindustrialization and decentralization. And, also, the throw away type of attitude that prevails. It captures it all because it still is a hulking ruin in the back and also partially destroyed in front. What else is nice are the colorful areas in this photograph, the green and red/pink and light blue materials. It all is almost neatly piled up. Still, in the midst of destruction there is still organization. And the large post really emphasizes all of the above. Well documented, Gaetan.
