[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
Anticosti Island is known internationally for the outstanding quality of its deer hunt. This activity has been entrusted to the Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (SÉPAQ) and to private outfitters that welcome 3000 to 4000 hunters each year. The total number of deer harvested is now over 9000 head per year. The quality of the facilities and outstanding hunting conditions found on the island contribute to its international reputation as a hunting paradise. During your stay in Anticosti, when you walk in Port-Meunier area, you will definitively have the chance to see and maybe even feed lots of deers. During the whole trip, wherever you stay on the island, you will always be in touch with the surrounding forest and inhabitants; Deers, foxes, mooses, will come along you way very often.

Sujet un peu trop centré à mon gout, mais quel bel animal ! la mise au point est très bonne

I wish you would have tried to get down on eye level with the deer so that you could see a little better the surroundings and the landscape where you found him. Since you didn't I think a very tight crop just around the deer would be really nice.
You deserve some points, capturing a deer in the wildlife is never easy.

Nice capture, and i like the angle. Crop heavily the right portion, and a little for top and bottom. No need to crop the left portion.

Dear Jeff,
If you could go there again and find this deer, maybe you would like to try this idea. I tried it and it looks different but attractive.

Whenever I shoot animal, I would go down on my knees and with a wide aperture, shoot the subject. So what I get is a facial/bodily shot of the animal but the background is thrown out in blur.

And also that way, you wouldn't have the ground as the background, as when you shoot animal when you are standing.

A beautiful deer. How could you get so close to it?? Very good sharpness! Well done!!
