Photographer’s Note
Known primarily as a paradise for white-tailed deer hunting, Anticosti Island is also a land of great ecological wealth and breathtaking natural beauty. Some 222 km long, 45 km wide, and 7,943 km² in size, the island lies at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Anticosti is 35 km from Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan to the north and 72 km from Forillon Point in Gaspé to the south. To give you a better idea of its size, this majestic island is 17 times larger than the Island of Montréal, 50 times bigger than Île d'Orléans, and one and a half times the size of Prince Edward Island.
Pictures were taken in August 2001 with my first digital camera. (Canon Powershot G1)
