Photographer’s Note
While out looking at the wildflowers in my yard, I found this Hairstreak butterfly feeding on a swamp milkweed plant. Hairstreaks are recognizable by the little "tail", usually present at the edge of the hindwing. The wingspan is 3/4 to 1 1/2 inches. This may be an Acadian Hairstreak (strymon acadica), but I am not certain.
The swamp milkweed plant (asclepias incarnata) grows in marshes or wet pastures. Height is 1 to 5 feet. The leaves are narrower and more lance shaped than the common milkweed. Mixed cloud and sun.

I don't like the square format, but the photo is great. Nice details and good sharpness.
This butterfly don't exist in European counties but we have an other butterfly (Everes argiades) who look like your hairstreak.
To see this european butterfly and compare, look for i.e. this site

I know nothing what butterflies concerns, but I find this picture great! I very much like the colours, and the texture of the wings. The head and mouth of the animal are really impressive.

Linda
Thanks for visiting my gallery. I must say you have some beautiful shots here. This one is particularly good, capturing the butterly in a great pose. Will try and catch some of these one day (with my camera I mean!).
Cheers
Aubrey
