I am feeling a bit overwhelmed (in a good way) with the critiques on my previous post of Highway 401, so I am going to interrupt the Highway series with this long exposure shot that I took at the CNE. Thanks a lot for your overwhelming response to my photos.
I go back to to CNE 2005 for today's post. This is the third photo I am posting of the rides at the Ex.
Click here for Previous photo that I had posted.
CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) is one of the biggest events in Canada and lasts for two weeks and usually ends on the Labour day long weekend in September. One of the prime attraction of the CNE is the air show in the last weekend where one gets to see many fighting planes from the USA and many other planes performing acrobatics.

Great job Sarju!
I love it. Large and bold, great colors and detail.
Very well captured.
I'm starting to miss the fairs back home with all these shots your posting!... hahaha

Overwhelmed, but why? I think that image was well worth the attention. This is a fun shot. I did a similar shot this summer at a local event with a smaller ride. I will post the image soon. At first I was bothered by the lamp post in the image, but after taking a few moments to observe the image more, I find that it helps the composition. The exposition is well managed and the framing well done.

Very nioce one ! I like the movement and "light" lines contrasting with the bold "Giant Wheel" inscription. Max

hey Sarju! You are on my turf now. ;) just kidding. Great photo. Nicely composed. the faris wheel looks great. nice job. JP
jurgen (2074) 2005-09-29 12:45
Excellent timing here.
The shutter speed is precise for an excellent result. The wheel is like transparent, and a lot of people can be seen blurred by their movement, giving it a real sense of a fair.
fayeulle (27827) 2005-09-29 12:52
Using long exposure time, the wheel speed seem to be very high !
udijw (392) 2005-09-29 13:22
Very nice ferris wheel shot. The exposure is a bit to long for my taste (see the burned out shop on the left and the burned sign) but stil la great image.
you have a wonderful collection from the fare. looking forward to see more of it.

Ooh! Another great shot. I like the effect from the long exposure Sarju. The lighting is magical.
PJE (20758) 2005-09-29 20:11
Well I do say this is a lovely time exposure Sarju. It looks like a bright wheel or a top one can spin on the floor. I love it.Cheers Paul.
rabdelnoor (3421) 2005-09-29 21:36
Beautiful result on this long exposure shot Sarju. The rotation of the wheel created a nice effect of concentric circles. A very good one.
All the best,
t0mmm1 (5440) 2005-09-30 2:42
great job here and nice contrast of spining wheel against the giang wheel sign. I like the feeling of turning around... TFS

The lovely colours in the wheels its fantastic, I like the movement and light lines contrasting with the bold wheel inscription, also the supports with the yellow red colour.
very well done!
Thanks a lot for visit.

Pleasant atmosphere created with the long exposure very well used for your subject with a nice explicit coloring pulling all the attention.
ndb1958 (9289) 2005-09-30 9:36
great capture. I like it very much.
weswang (18223) 2005-09-30 10:55
Hi Sarju, A nice capture of the dynamic of the wheel via this long exposure shot. I like the view of the circle and the oval shape formed in this wheel. Good to see the crowd in this long exposure shot. A very well taken night image. Well done.
cessy (13647) 2005-09-30 11:03
very nice night shot, Sarju
the atmosphere very well captured
I like the ghostly people, the light on the big wheel
very well done
john_c (24662) 2005-09-30 11:50
Your recent shots indicate you have reached a new level in your photography. Your low light and night shots in particular have both excellent exposure and other little special effects which are most enhancing, such as seen here with the ghostly people milling about and the fabulous giant wheel. The inky black sky is such a perfect counterpoint to the dynamism and colour of the CNE action. Very well done.

Feels great to be back among wonderful photos. Love the way you have taken this shot with long exposure. The bright colours of the gaint wheel against the dark background is awesome. Nice going
Galmeida (12559) 2005-10-01 5:10
Excelent difficult night capture you did, with a fine exposure time. All is motion, light and life. The transparent wheelis so funny and so well taken for composition.
Excelent colors and a excekent work.
Tue (27696) 2005-10-01 10:20
A great and impressive picture because of the great light caused by the long exposure time. The colours are also very nice and good. Very good work and thanx for sharing!
feather (51130) 2005-10-01 11:56
Amazing effect of the long exposure: the wheel looks as if it is twirling madly, when in actual fact they go quite slow. Well done
PS I've put a long reply to you from your critique to me.
Emile (20350) 2005-10-01 19:15
Very well captured, full of action. Looks like the giant wheel is going to take off as a jet engine. The colors are great. Good composition.
ajcsousa (1804) 2005-10-01 19:42
Very nice speedy photo. Fantastic colors and light. I liker also the movement of the people caused by the exposure. Very well done
cam (9041) 2005-10-01 21:37
You are a fun guy,and are entertaining the group.
A well taken shot,it is surprising that with a long 3 seconds opening, that the people did not move that much, what did you tell them.
Les photos de nuit sont interressantes de par leur complexité,mais la récompense est grande.(night photo are interresting because of their complexity, the rewards is greater)
Bonne fin de semaine
sergecross (3438) 2005-10-02 9:29

chaity (1539) 2005-10-03 0:17
Hai Sarju, you found a good spot for this photo. I like the clear clown face in the middle and the wording. Nice work.
sway (434) 2005-10-04 3:30
I love your ferris wheel.
The slow shutter speed has worked so well to make the ordinary extraordinary.
maphoto (8082) 2005-10-04 6:06
Very good result Sarju, impressive light effect, 3 seconds gives great result here, I have the impression that the wheel will begin rolling if you don't stop it !! All this with a ghost scene, well done.
thebig_d81 (777) 2005-10-04 7:15
Great long shutter shot Sarju. Lighting works well
hdl (6995) 2005-10-04 7:32
Hi Sarju. When seeing the ferris wheel like this, I do not feel very eager to step on it; it's like it's going to take off. Nice result though with the exposure time. Well done.
jbweasle (9373) 2005-10-04 16:58
This long exposure makes it look like the wheel is spinning very fast! Is it going to fly off? It's an interesting effect and makes for a colourful and attractive shot.
Stepan (27210) 2005-10-08 4:47
A perfect exposure time management !
The wheel is beautiful.
PogoStick (510) 2005-10-10 13:16
Nice exposure Sarju. The colours are extremely vibrant without looking fake. Very well composed and executed.
Jakou (642) 2005-10-15 5:12
A picture well composed with sweet colors. Very good job. Regards.
Nefaryta (2582) 2005-10-15 5:14

rowanb (864) 2005-10-16 10:53
nice long exposure, lots of light and colour
greg64g (11193) 2005-10-17 1:59
Well i see that 3 secondes are a good choice for this kind of image. I am fan about the night long exposure, and you succeed to do it with your A75, the quality of image looks very impressive especially for the noise.
ChrisJ (97974) 2005-10-18 3:51
A superb long time exposure, with an effective exposure time & well managed lighting with good sharpness & color. Well done!
IaKoop (819) 2005-10-19 16:24

I don't think so, everything is said!

Luan (12971) 2005-10-25 4:09
I can hear this picture to whitsle, excellent and dynamic picture Sarju, I like the people motion, the exposure is perfect.
clic (14938) 2005-10-28 15:54
I feel bad for those unlucky people sitting in the Giant Wheel, they must have get dizzy!
simonekarl (404) 2005-10-31 12:48
Ciao Sarju. This was never going to be an easy picture from that close range and with such intense light. However you captured the ferris wheel really well. But in my opinion that stall on the left is omitting way too much light and is distracting. Couldn't you have used an alternative angle to avoid it? Anyway it is a good image. I especailly like the blurred people going about their bussines.
DouceZ (58) 2005-11-03 13:26
Cool photograph! It's a bit scary for me, imagine going that fast geeeez. Cool stuff.. Is this the Ottawa Ex? I doubt it, but I didn't know there was more than one.
devimeuxbe (58557) 2005-11-03 19:28
je decouvre votre galerie
Vous aimez les images de mouvements et les traits de lumière. Celle ci est vraiment splendide.
riclopes (35577) 2005-12-12 4:02
I have to say, that you have superb long exposures shots in your gallery and it was difficult to choose one (in time, may be I will get to all of them...). The shots of CNE 2005, are my favorite, I think, although the ones in the highway are very good as well. It's amazing the result of only 3 seconds! The speed efect on that wheel is very impressive and the ghosts of people in several levels of defenition are very, very nice! Great fair atmosphere. Great shot!
Congratulations! Let's see if this one gets to 100 points...
Thanks a lot,
Have a nice week,
zeca (19762) 2006-03-29 23:09
Hey Sarju! How nice is your capture! It looks like crazy, because it causes illusion. Looks like a fast giant wheel! It´s great! Good exposition!
veronika (6052) 2006-06-30 3:46
Wooow another crazy shot, token in night what even make it look more crazy and interesting, very well captured Sarju, you deserve "overhelming responses on your photos " ;)
Have a great day!
