I took this picture today because Noel's Monument of Light picture reminded me that there is a similar new artwork in Toronto, not as tall and not a monument but a decoration of a new condo development called 'Emerland City' in North York. It was officially unveiled this spring, and it consist of four colourful conical pylons 15- 20 m high. The colour combination supposed to represent the seasons in the Canadian climate. The pylon in the back represents winter, mostly white. Fall is represented by the first pylon, it is the most colourful due to the changing of the colour of the leaves of the many different deciduous trees.

I like this kind of urban scene. These colorful pylons are great, and I like how they on different levels. The combination of artwork and buildings makes an interesting view, and I really like that a small group of people are on left side of the frame. Everything is very balanced and well-presented.

Hello Barnabas, i am glad that the Noel photo inspired you to show us this interesting work of art. Interesting idea of the colours of season. One can easily recognize the last winter pylon. Nice urban view, excellent presentation .

These are so unusual!
I'm glad you were able to explain their significance!
You have done a fine job of capturing them sharply, in a well composed, not easy considering their height!
Have a great day,

What a cool artwork, and with great meaning behind it, s not just random poles of colored pieces. I like the winter one a lot, and how apt that the sun is not shining on it as brightly as the others. This work must surely bring a lot of life and color to the area. Excellent choice of angle to shoot from too, the perspective you have on them here is brilliant, while the color is such contrast to the beige tones of the buildings. Great post, thanks!

Quite an eye-catcher you show today that gives much allure to Emerland City by its paradoxal shapes, compared to the building behind, and vivid colors.
Nobody can miss this superb advertisement in town!
