[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The town of Richmond Hill has seen many changes in its lifetime. More than anything else today, it seems to be a bedroom community for commuters working in Toronto. But when this classic little farmhouse was built at the turn of the last century, it was a thriving community, primarily agricultural but also a stop along a radial railway line that ran from Toronto to Sutton.
Today the farmhouse is closed in the winter and open in the warm months for visits from schoolchildren and tourists.
Tech: slight cropping from the top, resized for TE and sharpen
Personal note: It was -22 degrees when I was shooting this house this morning BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Thanks for your visits, critiques and kind suggestions

Hi Silke,
I saw your photo even before, but my connection was so bleeping slow that I wasn't able to give a critique, but I found it now again:) I see these types of houses in some American movies, maybe Canadian too, they were always so beautiful to me. I like how u captured the red roof with the window and the tree in front gives a special charm. -22? And there was still some sun:) I have cousins in Toronto and they too complain about coldness:)
Regards,
Gordana.

Hi Silke,

I clicked on this fully expecting to be something I wouldn't have much to say about ... then I read your note .. and then I was just contemplating the wind outside .. and then I looked back to your image .. and for some bizarre reason it just clicked with me .. and then I had to sit here for a moment to figure out why .. it is the window .. the relationship of the two panes .. the hint at seeing in .. framed by the detailed pattern of shadows (memories?) .. wonderful .. it got me ..

take care,

John

Hi Silke,

Hi Silke,

Wonderful detail of this roof and window is stunning in your photo. I like your way adding naked tree and its shadows on façade to your scene. Congratulations.

What a cold weather is there! Probably I can die because here only two temperature available. The temperature at inside of house is between 32-34° Celsius at day time and downs to maximum 28° Celsius at night. If it’s down to less then 28° Celsius then many peoples wearing thick clothes ;)

Friendly Regards,

Ertugrul

Hi Silke

I like the dappled lighting & shadows across the house. Good colour contrast of red & blue. Tfs!

Hi Silke!
Very nice detail! Well seen and well captured! I like the contrasts, the lights, the colours and specially the shadows!

Hello Silke
Do you know what I like the most in this picture... the church style window and with the bare tree as a framing device and a bit of snow here and there, you can strongly feel about that classic proverb "home sweet home".

Fine architecture, great colours and sky, nice window, beautiful play of light and shadows. Well done.

Hi Silke, I haven't been to Richmond Hill for a few years, but what I remember of it is that it is made up of two parts, old and new. You have very nicely captured the old with this simple shot of the farmhouse window. The composition is great with that window looking out towards the tree. I can almost see it as the occupant would inside. You've picked up great detail of the house itself, with the window, trim, roof and bric brac. All of this is set against that great blue sky. Very nice.

Thanks, John
