These are the first eight lock of the Rideau Canal. The canal, which is a National Historic Site of Canada, makes it possible to navigate from Lake Ontario in Kingston to the Ottawa river in Canada's capital city.
The canal is quite old, being officially opened in 1832.
In the distance is the Museum of Civilization and the Alexandra bridge which connects Ottawa to Gatineau, Quebec. The Bytown Museum is the building on the left.

This is one of my favourite places in this country. The point of view is such that it shows the depth to the river. The dark foreground with the reflections works well.

It's great that you captured several famous sites in this one photo. The locks are interesting, but I especially like the view of Alexandra Bridge in the distance. It reminds me of the Queensboro Bridge here in NYC. Nice reflections in the water, too.

very well selected POV which allowed you to include the interesting locks in the foreground and the even more interesting bridge further in the distance. Good play of light and shadow.
Very well done!

Your excellent infor notes guides us thru' to appreciate this shot about this canal and lock system. I really like the detail you have captured, it's nice to see other parts of the world that I have never been to like this. Lovely canalside scene in nice rich colors, the composition and perspective are superb leads further away into the distance drawing the eyes into the shot with good sense of depth. This is great record image full of interest. Great effort and TFS. Congrats.
