The Rideau Canal was opened in 1832 as a precautionary reaction to the war of 1812. It has been continually operated since then and still uses the original hand operated locks. The canal covers a distance of 202 km and has 45 locks. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

superb picture.Ottawa is rather a rare guest to our website,so it´s always nice to see pictures from this city.I like the way you composed it.The POV is really good.Brilliant colors and pleasant, soft lighting. The only downside is the overexposed sky.But I know, that sometimes nothing can be done with this, even if you have a polarizer.Good work!
Have a nice day

Nice inclusion of the lock mechanism as the dominant subject in the bottom right; it gives a good sense of how the canal is used. Good lighting on the Chateau Laurier too.

C'est un beau point de vue sur la Canal Rideau. La chute d'eau de l'écluse est un point d'intérêt intéressant. Belle lumière qui baigne les édifices. L'endroit est superbe.
