Photographer’s Note

Completed in 1832, the Rideau Canal is a waterway connecting the city of Ottawa with the city of Kingston. It runs roughly 202 km. Today it is used by pleasure craft. During the winter months it is used as a skateway. It was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2007. Seen here is the locks of Ottawa. The locks sit between parliament hill and the renowned hotel Chateau Laurier.
