Photographer’s Note
Initially when I saw the huge spider sculpture called Maman in front of National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, opposite to the towers of Notre-Dame Basilica, I wanted to call the photo as Melancholy and Spiritual. But later I changed my mind. Comics and storybooks have stereotyped spiders in a negative manner. Spiders contribute to the sustenance of the earth and I feel that there is a spiritual dimension in them too.
