George,
Another insightful look into Canada and its plethora of colours. This is very seasonal. Great colours as always and another interesting Canadian for us to marvel at. A great series with super colours and your trademark characters and glasses!!
Cheers
Peter

Excellent image and portrait George, full of fascinating atmosphere and beautiful couple of the woman and this amazing camera, compliments, also to the great autumnal landscape.
Ciao
Vinicio
PS Your Piazza Mincio is online through my POV of it, now you can see how it's becomed.
Hi G. A fine contextual portrait of our "colleague" (or so some of us may wish) and her magnificent camera mounted on the heavy-duty tripod. I like how your framing partially hides her behind the yellow autumn foliage but still shows her contemplative/scrutinizing expression. Good use of selective DOF to blur away the magnificent colorful autumnal scenery in the back somewhat. Grand add with the bursting-color WS, but this one here is so much more interesting. Nice stuff.

There has to be 57,897,268,251 pictures of people taking picture, this goddamn disease has became a bigger cliché than sunsets.
Your image is very conventional, a straight forward capture with conventional framing, proper dof, nice colours... sooooooo......
so why do I smile when I look at this photo? simply put, no matter the subject, no matter how popular or unique, when the image is taken is this good, one has to connect with it. I am absolutely loving it, as I said, pretty straight forward photo, a landscape if you will, a portrait if you will, a good photo if you will. Love the equipment, I bet she is thinking who cares if the shot is level, will fix it in photoshop, who cares if the composition is right, will clone out whatever I don't need, exposure, heck with it. But the most important think for me is her pleasant and content smile, she is in heaven, she loves it, and so do I. Quite a difference between this image and thousands of snapshots of Japanese tourists taking photos of other tourists.
Simple and heartwarming.
Peter
Hi George,
this is Wayne Gretzky commenting your pic...
...
naaah, could you really believe that, after Norbert and Peter critics... just joking... c'mon take your breath back, here's a paper bag... it's just me... kidding, George... (Sorry about Wayne, my list of canadian crowd movers is a bit short. )
Ok, so let's come back to this pic... but one of these days, you'll have to tell us why you got out of bed someday and suddenly decided you would frame your photos with a black panoramic frame... I'm now always tempted to to open the thumbnail to see what has Coppola or Polanski uploaded in TrekEarth... Have You been a former marketer or what?
Lovely colors, as usual, so I'll skip that one.
Peter correctly noticed that the "photo-the-photograher" twist wasn't novel anymore. Though yours gently connects to the woman photographer (I would say "empathizes") while most are ironical, putting down the photographer to our laughter. I mean how can anyone not be moved by that shy smile?
That's the humanism in it that makes it original.
(Emotional comprehension with large format photography is another complicated story (I think I won't ever understand the masochistic pleasure in it, perhaps it only comes from the camera setting itself).)
Perhaps this image unveils something about you too... With this shot and given your past critics, I'd paraphrase WC.Fields : someone who dislikes street kids and is so sweet to other photographers cannot be a bad person.

Ale historia... pisana obrazem i nie tylko. Zaskakujesz jak zwykle pozytywnie, choć... co ja piszę... masz stałą klasę i jeżeli dajesz dobre zdjęcie, to gdzie tu zaskoczenie... No właśnie. A zdjęcie w WS palce lizać. Pozdrawiam.

I hear music when I look at this picture, George. Some lyrical pieces from Russian films of 1970s. Music of my childhood. No more words.
Alexander
PS The best so far of your recent Canadian series, no doubt.

Hi George!
So, you decided to post a photo after all! Thank God, for having answered my prayer! ;)
Fall is my favorite season (though you should be inform that I say that for each season). The colors! The colors! And here, I am totally spoiled. I could look at this photo for a long, long time (and at the one in the workshop too). Ok, you can find many pictures of people taking pictures (Peter), but you can also find one zillion of pictures of fall colors. But I don't know what you do and how you do your treatment. I would like to be an angel (?, well maybe a bird!) and spy on you! ;) Maybe I should find an old F-1... Or stop taking pictures! Truly George, the "texture" of your photos, and this one is a good example, is very special, amazing and beautiful.
I read Luko comment on "humanism". Very happy to read that... Yes, you connect with the people...
Now, let me prove you beyond doubt that I don't know everything. This Toya thing... what is that??? I am pretty impressed by the tripod or is it? Seems to be an impressive camera.
A very great addition to your theme! Even Pierre Trudeau said it! ;)
Claire
(P.S.: You will notice that I did not mention a certain element...)

George you certainly have an interesting way of introducing your photos. I also find it interesting how she is waiting for something to happen...perhaps a timed shutter to release. I clicked on her link and yes her toya has produced a wonderful shot. Oh yes don't forget your shot too. You have a wonderful way of seeing life George. Its always refreshing. Keep up the good work!

George not only to you "talk the talk" in your one-of-a-kind critiques but clearly yuo can "walk the walk" as well, as in this deceptively straightforward but very confident picture. Luko has already nailed down the humanity through the shy smile, so there's very little else left for me to do, execept to insist that to me the camera is the real star here, framed by autumn leaves - this is not all that much a sincere ode to a shy middleaged woman photog with short grey hair, no, it is just as much if not more an ode to the bloody Toya (and anyone reading your note would get that...)

Hello George.
The best photograph of a photographer that I have ever seen...hmmm, no, I do mean that. (in my humble opinion of course). The lighting is very nice and obviously you have done marvels with the color. The intricate nature of her camera contrasts well with the simple composition. Her expression is also very interesting...a restrained smile, a shy grimass...maybe waiting for the moment.
Regardless, a very fine shot indeed. I might say that the workshop is also a great shot.
Regards,
Chris

Hello George,
During my visits to Canadian and USA parks,I was always surprised to find out the sophisticated equipment people carried in their cars. Toyos and Linhofs, and arrays of medium format gear and lenses , and above all the enthusiasm they brought upon their jobs. This picture reminds me all that.
All the best - Izzet Keribar

A nature photograph from Polonaise! Very nice. I love her shy smile and the way she seems to be hiding behind those bright yellow leaves. I wonder what you said to her to make her smile like that, or was it just the fact that some strange man was taking a picture of her? Anyway, it resulted in this awesome photo, and that's all that matters.

Bonsoir George,

I planned to make a carefull visit through your gallery, but than, I got excited with all the critics written here. Because of them, I got strongly connected to this image and know I must say something, even if I don't know what. Everything I can say will sound repetitive or silly. I can't find a shallow critic here and I would be also thrilled with those three in a row, not to mention Claire, Francis and others. Who impresses with good critics, allways have meaningful feed-backs, right? Or may be not so...
Anyway, sometimes it's so easier to write shallow critics and not think much about them. Meaningfulness can make me tired, sometimes, as well. But most of the times I also take so much pleasure in reading them from all of you guys.
I'm rumbling and I'm here for sometime now...
About the image, I tend to agree with Francis (a hell of a writter, as well and he usually goes right to what it matters, without lost himself analyzing details): the sophisticated toy is the real star here - your note and her expression shows that.
Ric
p.s.- one stupid question. You have an impressive collection of old photos. What about the new ones?

Hi George!
Another masterpiece from your Canadian theme.
The woman is looking very proudly at her"baby"
/camera/.The photo is nicely framed by the birch's golden leaves. You captured a beauty of Canadian fall. Thanks for sharing

What a camera! ...and a nice portrait capture of the photographer too - this would be a good series - all those images of photographers of all shapes and sizes and what they were aiming their cameras at (maybe not!) - your landscape is beautiful and makes me want to get on a plane right now and come back ......pining after Canada.......Kev
