Balancing Rock is a slender column of basalt perched in an apparently impossible position. Yet it has been this way, geologists maintain, for many thousands or even millions of years. Pick up the 1.5 mile trail about 2 miles past Tiverton and walk down about 360 steps to the viewing platform.
See yesterday's post - "Falling Down" for a coastline view in the opposite direction, also taken from the viewing platform. |
