Winter has arrived and the cold snap we have is causing ice
to build up in the North-East part - Halloran Cove - of Sambro Harbour.
This view is of the fishplant on Willow Road from the mouth of the brook.

The sailing boat on the left is already iced-in in Halloran Cove.
The "Leading Lady", with outriggers pointing skyward, is tied up at the dock,
providing a wee colour on a mostly white-grayblack scene.

Photo cropped a lil on right and left side, then scaled at 40%.

Maybe you can't get excited but it is a good photograph, it really maks one feel the cold, and even this makes me want to travel there, but I'll wait until summer,

Such a great Nova Scotian shot! I recognized the East Coast just by a quick glance at the thumbnail. I like the greys and whites of this photo. The composition is very strong.

Not much snow but still some evidence of winter!
For some reason this looks really cold, the ice covered rockjs do the trick I suppose...
A fine composition with strong foreground interest, good sense of depth and fine details!

It pleases this composition to me, given in two planes: Initially a rocky scene, with a good clearness of the parked foam. And a POV that emphasizes a traditional architecture, with a great resistance. Greetings from Colombia

Hello Jay ! I have wonderful friends along the Lighthouse Route and whenever I see a photo of NS, I have to open it. We have spent many crazy nights in their barn dancing and I was even there in late November (and re-visited many times after). Due to heavy snow fall I could not depart from Halifax Airport and had to stay for another night ... but this is some years ago. I do love these small fishing villages. So pretty, but also less romantic probably as we might think. I love the icy foreground, and the rather pale background ... so typical for winter. Well done, Barbara.

Lovely black/white/gray tones, but I also found the rock wall (sepia)in the background, had added a lot of "color" to the composition.

Good foreground, clean and clearly-focussed
mid-ground......nice shot!!

Jay, good morning!
Not dull to me...I long for such sceneries...to me it's called tranquillity. I like the composition with the rocks in the front, the little houses, the fine colour of "Leading Lady", the transparent sky. Great sharpness and clarity. Have you wondered what it would like in B/W ?
