This quiet little town is kept alive by its frozen food plant. Apparently blueberries are brought is from a very wide-ranging area; I heard they even bring them in from Maine. I buy organic blueberries that are packed here in Oxford from Trader Joes, a California chain.
As a child, my husband visited a nearby family farm in the summer. Trips to 'town' were rare as the farm was primarily self-sufficient. For his view of the river, look here.

You know how I love reflections; these are beautiful. The water seems so still. I can imagine walking by here and stopping at the little picnic table. The vertical format is appropriate for the long view into the image carried along by the river.

Very nice shot! I like the view of the water down the centre of the frame, with the trees on each side, which makes this an evenly balanced shot and also has the effect of showing the clouds very well. Very peaceful and idyllic scene!

Just lovely Pat! The reflection are perfect with the bright white cloud in the water being the first thing I saw in the image. Very peaceful to say the least. Well done.

Hi Pat. You certainly have some excellent color and saturation in this one. Of course the depth and reflections are tops in this shot. I think this is another shot from you that got a nice boost from the polarizer. I just got a polarizer for my D200 but have yet to have a chance to try it yet. Beautiful shot Pat!

what tranquility with that little river reflecting part of this great landscape. I just can imagine how much fun it must have been to walk through the nature and get blueberries. Not quite how it works today ...

Hi Pat. Blueberries are in fact quite new to our market, only making an impact in the last decade or so. I still think the bulk are imported. Great photo. Lovely calm atmosphere. Well composed with good depth. Thanks for sharing.

Great exposure to bring out the reflection in this quiet little peice of water. Is that green natural?

After a few weeks away, I have a lot of pictures to see at TE. Slowly...
This one is a wonderful rural scene. It reminds me the English countryside. It has even than very English name, Oxford.

Hello Pat. This little river remind me of the little canals found throughout Europe. Nice vertical format to show a deep view of this area. The reflections on the water are a real bonus. I see a beautiful little place suitable to spend a fun afternoon. Thanks Pat :-)

I love the subtle reflections here and the vertical format really works well. The eye follows the banks steadily inward and upward into the frame, with good depth. Your exposure level seems just right. Maritime areas like this always seem quaint, as pleasant backwaters where people struggle to make a living yet seem so happy - at least that is my oft impression. Cheers...later.

Interesting way of showing your favourite clouds..in reflection. Nicely framed reflection in vertical format surrounded by the greens.

A lovely and picturesque place, and honestly... who wants to go to town living in a place like this..!
Great summer colours and a fine, well balanced composition, attractive diagonal river...
And the sky looks even better reflected!

It is a simple and beautiful composition, flood of nature and of peace. I like the great graphical effect of the reflections of the sky and the clouds in the water, surrounded of green, in a very relaxing and attractive image.

Lovely tranquil scene created by the reflection in the still water and lush greenery. Very good natural colors and outstanding image clarity. Well captured and composed. Excellent work! tfs

Hello Pat! This makes me long to live again in a place where blueberries grow. Because that usually implies more rain, more green, and more trees than the semi-desert we live in in SoCal. The scene seems so idyllic and very peaceful. I'm glad you were there to capture and share with us.
The reflection is well seen.
banyanman (7789) 2007-08-31 18:57
Hi Pat. The light looked quite harsh in this but the polariser has helped to bring out some detail in the sky and has saturated the greens well. The reflections in the water add to the peaceful feel of this scene. Larry's note was very interesting. Cheers . . . David

How lucky your husband was as a kid to visit a family farm in this area. Most kids today wouldn't know a family farm from a strip mall and that is sad. I always tell my wife when I see kids getting into trouble that they need to work on a farm for awhile. You do oustanding landscape photography and the small thunbnails didn't do this photo justice. Its real beauty was revealed to me when I opened it up. This is a beautiful image which displays your excellent technical and artistic skills!

The reflections in the endless surface creek are really beautiful. Excellent colors and lighting management. well done!
