Photographer’s Note
This is my Grandad. He passed away eight days ago. At the risk of breaching the Terms of Service, I'm posting this photo in honour of him.
The pic isn't the best quality because I was just playing with my dad's new camera at the time I took it - I wish I had the settings at a higher level as this is such a natural shot of my grandfather. He was sitting at my parents' kitchen table minding his own business, and I was able to capture him in a very real way.
In our grandkids' tribute at the memorial service, we said: "He will be remembered as a generous friend, a helpful neighbour, and an active contributor to the community. Most of all though, he was a family man. His strength, influence and love have helped to shape and teach those closest to him. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered. We love you Grandad."
PS - I've posted versions of the same photo as workshops (I had to do some editing to remove a window, curtain, and telephone in background).

Hi Allison,
It's a great portrait, good use of black and white, nice tight cropped composition. It shows real warmth and character - very good natured eyes. I think the exposure is good in what look like quite tricky lighting conditions, and the image is good and sharp. I'm sorry for your loss - your closeness to him comes across in this very relaxed and natural portrait.
Best wishes
Peter

It's an excellent portrait, a really good B&W image. A fine tribute. R.I.P.

But anyway, congratulation...
