Photographer’s Note

“Ship design” is the name of this photograph and this type of design is under extreme question. The ship is just less than 65ft. which is the Federal regulation. These ships to go far out to sea but they must be under 65ft. and this new design enables them to carry more fish bus make their trip economical. However the fishermen would like larger safer vessels.
This was brought to light recently when this type of boat sank in rough weather conditions and two brothers lost their lives. The name of the boat was called “Ryan’s Commander” and this was a tragic story. I can’t understand why there are such foolish regulations when each boat has an individual quota.
Presently this type of design is under investigation and hopefully some good will come out of a very heartbreaking story.
