Photographer's Note

Brigus is a small fishing community and got it's name from the 'Brickhouse' which was the name of an old town in England. Its early settlers came from England, Ireland and Wales. It is located at Conception Bay about 80km west of St. John's in Newfoundland.
Brigus is also the birthplace of Captain Robert A.Barlett a master mariner of Artic fame who assisted Robert Perry on his trip to the North Pole. His home 'Hawthorne Cottage' is now a National Historiic Site
