Old Bonaventure, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland.

A small fishing community in rural Newfoundland. There are a few indications of spring in the photo. The snow has just melted and left a carpet of yellow grass. In the top right hand corner, you can see the pack ice a few miles offshore which drifts past Newfoundland in the spring bringing a few icebergs along with it. This year the ice is particularly heavy, trapping 100 sealing boats in the past few weeks. The small boat returning to port has likely come back from checking his lobster traps. The community is slowly coming back to life after the long winter.

Hello Alison,
I cannot be 'objective' (if to be 'objective' is possible...), I so much loved Trinity Bay when I went in Newfoundland, a few years ago. And also St.John. So many colors! And the sea all around! You photo is just a relief of colors in an otherwise gray day. Though they might be a notch too saturated (the ground is quite yellow), but I may be wrong. I like your timing with the little boat coming in.
I don't know if you live yourself in Newfoundland. But, in my modest opinion, this is one jewel not well known by tourists. Oh I wish I could return there with a real camera and not the cheap disposable one I had then!

Very nice tranquil scene, the colours of the various houses and fishing stages really come thru. Very good note to accompany it. Just to bad that the greens of the evergreen trees never seem to come alive as they seem in person. Rodney

Your picture Alison, is ...hmmm...different.
In the best meaning of that wrd.
Those pastels in there...?
It resembles more of a miniature painting than a 'photo' photo.

NF is a best kept secret in the business.
Being there and record all these rough sceneries, the people out there...The hardest working people you can imagine.
Good stuff gal, and most importantly...It's different !
