The Catholic Church designate someone as a Saint with a procedure called Canonization. The process from start to finish can take decades, and on some occasions it can take centuries.
The town of Bay Bulls has been invaded on many occasions in it's early history, because of it's close proximity to the Capital City, St.John's. Bay Bulls has been invaded by the Dutch, and French to use as a stating point to takeover the British strong hold in the Capital City. The British owned vessel H.M.S. Saphire sank on September 11, 1696 during a battle with the French, thus becoming one of Canada's oldest known ship wrecks.
The Roman Catholic Church, St. Peter and St. Paul made the unusual choice to use cannons from the French conflict as gate post, in the front entrance to the property. It seem fitting that the top of each cannon should have it's own Saint, thus the gates are now known as the "Canonized Saints of Bay Bulls".
I chose to present these statues in B/W as the day was overcast and the area seemed to have a natural colourless atmosphere. I used Google's Picasa, to adjust the brightness, contrast, and convert to B/W. I also used the clone tool in PhotoFilter to remove a utility pole that was between the centre statues.
I also added a WS of another view from the other side of the gates.

This is a nice photo with very good POV. The b/w version was a good choice.

Hi Rodney, I agree, the B&W is a good option as it concentrates on the forms of the statues. The image is sharp and it seems to have an old feel about it. Cheers, Grant
