Photographer’s Note

I shot this 5 years ago in Shahba, a town ninety kilometers south-east of Damascus..but it could be a picture from Turkey or from anywhere in the Middle East (maybe even the Balkans)...that's why the title...

I like it as it represents the almost monochrome color codes of the men, the only color being their crocheted hats (takke)...
easy lazy afternoon under sun...

Hi Fusun, great picture here again. I'm days behind, but I already saw that you have posted some beautiful ones! This is a nice shot of these old men. I like the way they all look at you, and how the last one has to bend over! Very good one, and yes, the hats are nice! Add you to my favourites.

Nice natural shot. A bit of fill flash would've helped this by lighting up some eyes.

Not only in the middle east, but, for example, also in little villages of Sicily yuo can easily find guys with same somatic characters in the streets when the season is good. The difference is that in Sicily many of them have a particular hat called "coppola"

Very clever title, took me a while, even after reading your note. Really a very good shot. I think leaving the white wall in was worth it, if only to locate it.
