Photographer's Note

The dance of the Mevlevi, followers of Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi, a 13th century Anatolian mystic and Muslim saint, is called the sema. Here two of the dancers bow to the sheik, standing on a red sheepskin, who oversees the dance.

A lovely gesture, simple yet powerful composiiton with no distracting figures around. The use of lens is very effective. Well done.

Intéressante photo dont j'aime la composition avec les deux danseurs synchrones vus de dos remerciant le public que l'on devine. Beau travail sur la lumière te les couleurs.

Hello Ryno - Your shots of the Mevlevi are really lovely and unusually perhaps this one stands out for me. The skirts may not be whirling but I love the composition with the rich deep natural colours and the bowed bodies of the dancers. Excellent shot. Warm regards Rosemary
