Photographer’s Note
Sana, San'a, Sanaa, or Sana'a - capital of Yemen and one of the most facinating in the Arab world with it's unique architecture, bustling souqs, friendly inhabitants and lack of tourists.
Sana’a is one of the ancient Yemen cities dating date back to the Sabean dynasty. The oldest reference to its existence is found in inscriptions dates back to the late the 1st Century AD. The inscriptions also refer to the historical Palace of Ghamdan associated with Salheen Palace in Marib . This suggested that Sana’a was the capital of the Himyrate dynasty at the onset of the 6th century AD when king Yousef Athar Dhu Nawas the last of the Himyarite kings was in power . It was also the capital of the Abyssinian rules and after them the Persians who also made Sana’a their capital.

Hi Lucie,
Ah, the blue hour again! :-) I've been posting my blue hour today as well. The same, but different hahaha. Where you are showing history in all its beauty, I'm showing modern advance in all its beauty.
The green is really coming out nicely here! Some veyr good post processing done here, to get that out of there. I'm not sure about Yemen, but I've been to Sudan - which is pretty dry as well and having the green appear lush can proove difficult. Nice one!

Hi Lucie!
Gorgeous night shot, perfectly calibrated to get some natural light on the building, while catching simultaneously the blue hour and the glowing street lamps. The overview of Sanaa is spectacular, thanks to a very good point of view. The architecture of Yemen is something I'm really not familiar with and its totally fascinating to discover.
Highly interesting note.

Hello Lucie,
My gosh, that’s such a great work in exposure control and ND grad use. You’ve captured beautifuly the complemetary colours of the blue moment sky and the various tones of orange in the street lights and the buildings. The pov couldn’t be better, since you’ve managed to include converging streets, a minaret (I think), open space and isolated buildings all in a very harmonic set. I have just one issue with that minaret seeming inclination to the right. It could be lens distortion or just a perpective trick.

Sanaa is a magic place brought from a fairy-tale down to our earth.
And the light and blue hour tones make this city even more magic and full of charm

Beautiful shot! The lighting is captured very well in this, with an amazing balance between the cool light of the blue sky and the warm light of the buildings. I'm also very impressed with the appearance of the buildings, and the amount of detail you have there, which allows us to see them so well. Nice work!

Hi Lucie
I have seen a few shots from this city on TE and it looks like a stunning place to visit. The evening light gives fabulous warm, soft colours to this shot, and your elevated POV gives us a wonderful view over the attractive buildings and streets. A really successful blue hour shot!

Hi Lucie, I made a note to look at your shots afer the reflection at Shibam and I'm pleased that I did. Once again you've achieved an original shot of this much photographed city. Where did you take this from? I have very pleasant memories of walking around Sana'a in the evening and seeing the little shapes of the coloured glass being lit up from the inside. cheers, Steve

Amazing shot.
Thanks for sharing.
The colors are amazing.
By the way I agree with what you say in introduction about the popularity of some photos over others.
However I believe that the "third dimension" is less important than "connections".
It does not matter at the end though.
It's not all about the points.
