Photographer’s Note

Kaukaban is located in the region north of Sana near Shibam and Thulla. It is a fortified city which sits on an incredible cliff with a wonderful view over the valleys bellow.

Hello Daniel,

Incredible that no one has commented here yet. It is fully deserving of some responses. Great FG is provided with the pile of irregular rocks, giving way to the beautiful subject of the fortified city. I think that a little more sharpness on the structure itself would look good. Lighting is well maintained and a relaxed atmosphere is generated by the low-lighting. The surrounding cloud does give the impression that the castle is hovering. Excellent work.

Hello Daniel,

This is a village that I wasn't able to make it to. Your lighting is really good (is this a combination of three exposures, HDRish?) I agree with Matt about the sharpness, but it is a great shot. When I was there in the summer, it was almost impossible to get these types of shots since it was constantly hazy. So it is a nice change to see such a crisp shot from this area.

La découverte de ce genre de forteresse dans un univers minéral est toujours un aspect majeur d'un voyage. J'en ai fait l'expérience en particulier au Maroc. Très joli.

c'est très joliment réalisé avec un bel avant plan, aisni que des couleurs agréables, depuis ce point de vue élevé.
par contre cela ne me semble pas super net sur toute l'image, les batisses notament.

Muy buena composicion con la vista de tan interesante ciudad localizada en lo alto de una colina, como dices en tu nota, esta debe de tener una preciosa vista del valle. Tu POV esta muy bueno asi como los colores y la iluminacion.

On a peine a croire que ça existe sur terre cet endroit ... je ne pense pas qu'il existe plus reculé sur cette planète.
Franchement elle est incroyable, j'ai peine a croire qu'elle n'ai pas plus de commentaire mais bon ça c'est un autre sujet ...
Sacrément contrastée et saturée, juste arreté a temps, elle est remplie de magie.

Seems You did not have too much light there and You created fascinating mood. The location looks so unbelievable, so intriguing, like taken from some ancient legends. I love the way You composed this scenery, leaving open space on the right to delight both in architecture and surrounding nature. This is superb Work.

Yemen es uno de los lugares a donde me gustaria ir (esta en mi lista), y tu foto solo refuerza esa idea.
Una maravilloa vista, muy bien compuesta, y bune manejo de luz

Tu as bénéficié d'une très belle lumière, ainsi ton paysage est magnifique - c'est cette construction qui m'a fait pensé que j'avais une photo d'architecture faite en 1997 et que je n'arrive pas à situer...
Félicitations pour ta galerie sur le Yémen, je viens d'y faire un tour, c'est superbe - bravo -

Daniel,
great landscape and architectural shot. The question what to do when you don't have an attractive forground element was extremely well solved here. You just get a pile of rocks!
The light on the walls of the fortress and in the sky provides a fantastic mood and the clouds just add a lot to that.
