Photographer’s Note

He used to be professional footballer in Mogadishu, now he is a butcher in refugee camp in Al Kharaz. Many life stories, often told in good English, by Somalis who fled war. Despite years of school system practically not working, those are often very intelligent and outspoken people.

Very informative photo Swiatek. When I visited Yemen, and Aden, there were many Somali refugees. They loved soccer, and actually asked me to play in a match with them (unfortunately I didn't have any shoes). They were all friendly, and this photo shows the sad story of many of them.

Great shot.
I like how he's wearing a football jersey as well.
