[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As a South African driving the streets of Yemen, one automatically feels a deep connection when seeing other Africans regardless of where they may be from (strangely enough I never shared those sentiments for fellow Europeans). To my surprise this African man was rather ill-humoured and I spent most of the uncomfortable ride home contemplating how I could steal a photograph of him. He finally fell asleep but woke in an instant to the sound of the shutter...only this time more petulant than before! I intern quickly motioned the camera innocuously in a panning movement to ‘continue’ photographing the busy buzz of the outside street.....Photographer / Actress? Possibly!
One sadly learns that not all Africans carry the heartbeat of Africa within.

Hello Tamarin
Great 'candid' with its striking black and white plus red, and balance of pattern with plain. Good also that we get a glimpse of the street. I enjoyed your story too!
Best wishes Maggie

Just discovered your gallery :
... me too, "I like this" ! Also your note... But I guess that this man did not feel so much empathy with you because he felt more of an 'Arab' than an 'African' and found your attitude (such great interest about him) a bit disturbing...
As for me, I like your inquisitive state of mind, keep it on !
Cheers,
Catherine

You're not African.
