I realize that this may look like a posed studio photo for some. In fact it's a simple photo shot on the street. This girl was playing with her friend as I approached them. At first they were showing off trying to grab my attention, but finally when they stopped, I was able to grab her attention in turn.

The dark background is the dark interior of the house she was playing in front of.

Indeed, it could have been shot in a studio. You grabbed a nice happy mood here. The effect of the shallow DOF and the sparkle in the eyes is still great in this portrait.
