Shoes II

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
While "Shoes I" showed only men's shoes (slippers) on sale, these are all women's.
Most are bright and cheerful, popular mostly with the younger generation. But there are a few blacks and browns in there, favored by those Yemeni women who follow a more stringent dress code (often all black, and in the religiously more stringent areas like the Hadramawt most even cover their complete faces, and wear black socks and gloves). But you can often see flashes of color from jeans and cheerful slippers like these, visible beneath the mostly black overclothes worn in public - look down!
This collection was a typical display of women's shoes shot in Ta'iz; I could have taken similar photos elsewhere (I wanted one at least) but I liked the neat orderly rows here - another contrast with yesterday's picture!

Tech note: When I took the shot I couldn't really decide whether to zoom in or not, so I decided to zoom out a bit and play with crops at home. That's what I did, and I liked this crop the best, but others are possible for different effects. I'll post the original full frame as a workshop version, so you can play with it too! |

Hi Marjolein,
a very attractive photo! So many different strong colors. It looks a bit abstract to me ... even though itīs something very real!
Perhaps they wear these kind of slippers because itīs rather dusty down there ... and these shoes are easy to wash and clean.
You could have made a strong monochrome (black?) frame around it - a contrast to all the colorful shoes - but itīs also good the way it is.
Hi Marjolein, Inever seen such colorful shoes.
As an image looks great!-:)
