This was one of the first images I posted, now armed with a better scanner and more ideas about PP he is again. Cropped to remove the blown up section and hopefully improve the composition.

Great close up portrait and you did well to get so close to the subject. Very powerful eye stare straight into the lens.

Where is your point of focus in this shot? Seems like the DOF is shallow.

The composition is fine and the posture of the man is very interesting

Hey Stephen,

This was in 1990? Feels like the faces and traditions of Yemen haven't changed that much in 2 decades! I love the portrait here, the crop and angle are effective, as they show how close you are with the man on a personal level. The expression is also honest and unfeigned; it is a look that entices you to want to learn more about him. A slight note: it would perhaps be nice to zoom out a little bit and add more detail of the keffiyeh into the top frame (less of the shirt on the bottom) to enhance cultural appeal.

Hi Steve,

You have a wonderful collection of people shots from around the world. This shot is also a winner. Great, intense, eye contact. I wonder if post processing you could have slightly blurred the area behind his face, just to focus our attention on his dominating eyes more. The photo has a lot of depth and is sharp in all areas of the frame, but I think blurring the back might improve it a little. Only an idea.
