Nice crisp capture of the guard. His expression is interesting, did you ask to take the photo, or just snap it? I like his posture leaning against the wall.
I am very interested in visiting Yemen, and hope you post more photos of this country.

Hi John!
This is a great shot. You can identify Yemen by looking at it. His expression is fantastic and I like the way you placed him on the right side. Light is very good also!

John,
Nice shot, these guys sure like their knives don't they. I like this for many reasons, the color is good and the shadow is interesting without blocking or hiding any part of the shot, it does not look too posed, and the off set composition is really good.

Hi John,
I really like the simple composition with this man against the textured stone wall. I suppose this guard was a little apprehensive with you taking the photo....hence his look. Nice capture of a Yemeni man.
Cheers,
Grant

Beautiful composition, John. The proportions are perfect. The lines of light and shadow are also gorgeous and quietly dramatic. And the direct gaze of the guard is what gives the photo its strength. Must be a fascinating place to visit. -Hugh

Hi John,
This picture is by far your best picture. Not anything wrong with your other pictures - don't get me wrong here! ;-) But this one is just standing out.
His raw look, the knife, the colours on his belt, the beautiful natural stone wall behind him and - most important - the wonderful reflections of the sun through a tree that is all over our man and the wall. Wonderful play of light!
Greetings, Dennis

Hi John,
perfect portrait for framing and the relaxing sight of the man.
A pity for the last facts happened that can affect the tourism here for a while...
A smile
