In Yemen many towns hold a market each week on the same day. This shot shows the town of Tawila on market day.

Scanned from the -tve.

Great daily life photo. Really interesting with lots of detail. The DOF is perfect and the color is good in what looks like a harsh lighting situation. I wish the people in the lower right were brighter but no big deal.

This is the type of photo that the more you look at it the more details you see which makes it even better. Like the blue flipflops on the man in the front, the detail of the architecture in the buildings up the hill, the different types of turbans and ,I just noticed, only one jambiya in the whole shot (I was going to say lack of but I see one now - goes back to looking at the photo longer).

This is definitely one of the more interesting photos of Yemen on the site.
Really great work

it feels like medieval market from A Thousand and One Nights

Hello Steve,
This old picture that was randomly shown today brings very strong memories to life. Not that I've been to this particular place, but it still makes my heart beat faster when recognizing the tremendous atmosphere of Yemen. You found a nice vertical perspective for this one.
Best wishes,
Gert

1992 and it looks like on of the stories I remember my Nana telling me...the land and its mythology...Sana...Makka...Madina...Damishq...I wish I could go there one day.

Cheers

Kamran
