Hajjerayn (the Yemeni village depicted here) reputedly produces the world's best and most expensive honey. It tastes best without any added dust and sand, which is difficult to achieve in Hajjerayn where everything is made of dust and sand. I bought a jar of the stuff, I still have some sample in my kitchen, it is delicious, and has no sand in it. This was taken from outside the village mid-morning from dry, very dry fields, each footstep sprays dust up to the waist, no exaggeration. The prominent building is a new Saudi financed mosque.

This post is dedicated to fellow TE member and critiquer extraordinaire, Ohhoneyhoney, may she critique this post one day with Hoovers and Kenmores. Thanks to a recent thread in the general forum, I discrovered her talent, it was the most entertaining thing I've read since Britney Spears shaved her head.

There will be large version of this panorama online one day, if anyone cares, when I establish a Pbase site. But for now, I cannot post any more large panoramas.

Hi Tan,
A fine POV and framing, whithout any dust in view! ;D (maybe you had to wait till it settles down to shoot this picture! Good natural looking colors, fine sharpness too. I like the panorama format, and obviously the superb Yemeni architecture... An interesting note too...
Why do you say you cant post panos any more... is there a limit?
Regards
Laurent

Hello Tan,
Nice panorama of this oasis with concentration of old & some new buildings which complement the barren & rocky background. Nice POV. I like the scattered greeneries and sandy hills in the foreground. Regards. Latiff.

Hi Tan
Happy to see you come back from this country with a great shot. I want know your secret to find always incredible POV. TE restrictions for LV are a pitty...
As usual, colors are just perfect.

Hi Tan!
Your POV for this shot is well choosen.
Good foreground with the many palmtrees and a nice view at this interesting situated city.Amazing sharpness and good contrast.
Regards,Leo

Excellent panorama. Cruel and beautiful scenery. One more proof that life is possible on every spot on earth no matter how harsh it was.
You show, as usual, photo with high technical quality but this is also photo with soul and technical quality is only the means to achieve outstanding result. Excellent compo and colors bring us the spirit of this place.
Fine work
Regards Darko

Another fabulous landscape shot, Tan, perfectly composed as usual and technically excellent. You have included all of the elements of a typical Yemeni landscape - the wadi, the unique architecture, the mountains and that lovely deep blue sky. I look forward to seeing a large panorama of this when you get around to establishing your PBase gallery. Cheers . . . David

Excellent work Tan. Sharp, colourful and very well composed and exposed. It is obvious to me that this would look fantastic as a large panoramic print.

Hola Tan... I did not know about this land and the honey they do there. I like the arquitectonical landscape, looks like "Stars war" movies (but the were shot in Tunez)... I would like to go there myself. Take care.

Bonjour Tan,
Amazing sharpness in this beautiful landscape.
Contrasts, colors and tones are spot on, and I like too your use of pano format.
Very nice job,
Regards,
JB.

It looks like a mediaeval mini-Manhattan rising from the desert, amazing. Yet the town also blends into the landscape and with the exception of the few more modern buildings, doesn't look at all out of place.
The panoramic crop works well here, and I also like how the line of the road on the left leads the eye into the frame.
Good work Tan.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Tan
You have given this shot quite a dramatic feel with its strong contrasts and the POV which has this nice path snaking its way to the city which rises impressively from the dusty landscape. A stunning shot full of interest and pleasing to the eye.

Hej Tan,
Great view of the town. I like the repetition of the many buildings. I also like the contrast in shapes of the houses and the mountains in the background. The trees are a welcome variation for the grey and brown colours. Well captured!

Hi Tan

Great panorama. Very sharp with good detail. Beautiful colors and contrasts. Well done.
Ben

Hi Tan. Yes I agree with you that honey is much better without dust and sand in it. I wonder why their honey is so much better than everyone else’s. That's too bad about not being able to do a high-res here. Maybe you can delete some old ones no one looks at anymore. The composition, saturation, and colors are tops. Another good one Tan!

The wide angled panoramic format works well here. Good sharpness, colour, & lighting. What is the ruined, crumbling, structure in the fg, at right?

Hi Tan.
This one is another picture that makes me willing to discover this country. It's not only for the honey but also for fantastic sceneries as the one you show here. The combination of the blue sky, green palm trees and bushes and the textures of he dusty rocks is splendid.
Thanks for sharing this other great TE document.

Beautiful composition with interesting humorous note! This place seems so remote in the middle of the desert, almost melted with the rocks all around. A feeling of a very far destination. very well done.

Merhaba Tan Bey,

Wow, thanks for the tip about Ohhoneyhoney - I just checked it out and that's some pretty wild stuff! The info about Yemen and the honey is great too, and it's for little stories like that that I keep coming back to TE - that and great shots like this. The long horizontal frame works well with this, showing the sweep of the town in it's setting with the dusty valley and rocky hills. Towns like this seem almost organic, like they are part of the natural landscape and not artificial. Great note and photo!

Hi Tan,
An amazing place...This panorama shot really works and gives so much pleasant detail of the surrounding desert and vegetation. I like the way the little roadway snakes up on the left, and also the old ruined square shaped building on the hillock to the right. The sky provides perfect contrast. Thanks for the fascinating note. An obscure, veiled world...I can taste the honey, but can imagine also the dust.

Salam Tan
Very nice architectures xho confusing with the landscape.
original picture for us and very interesting.
I did not had any idea about honey but I know that the yemeni coffee is better then the brazilian.
Choukran.

Tan, this post really deserves a LP. Why not deleting one of the olders one so that you get storage capacity again? I don't care about deleting old ones.
It seems that you got the right moment to get the shot ... at least I don't see any dust in the air and no signs of dust on your lenses either.
For the honey - I guess I will have to drive up to San Francisco to have some breakfast with yoy to taste this sweet desert marvel of honey.

Hi Tan. There’s so little greenery around this village I’m wondering where the bees get there nectar. Great photo. You have captured excellent colour and fine detail. Strong composition also. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tan,
A very interesting view on this city, situated a bit above your POV. If it wasn't for the colored houses this city would be difficult to spot from a distance as the colors are almost the same as the landscape.
Good compo with the palm trees in the foreground and the city a bit higher. Good colors too.
Well done,
Harko

Hi Tan,
An awesome view of an amazing place that makes me dream of a Shngli-la on the desert. That undulating imaginary line that starts near the lower left and goes all the way to the middle right traversing the village makes it very dynamic and eye catching. The lonely ruined tower on the left third nicely and the rocky hill above the houses are another point of interest graphically.
Congratulations. TFS.
Regards, José.

Great shot...love the bold colors. The composition is excellent and green of the palm trees really looks good with the dark blue polarized sky.

Where's the Honey..?
Aa. I know I know..
It`s on your Aunt Jemima..
And I'm here with my long long hair wondering what to do with all this..
I can't get honey from this profound photo..
but I've got a honeycomb of bees in my Christma's crown that I still have hung on my door.. and of course.. my house is very quiet..
I ignore why my gossipy neighbor doesn't want to share a cup of tea with me..
We have enough honey for two..

Christmas..?
It's a May Christma's Crown.

Amazing place. I have gotten good honey in many places, and I love it!
