Photographer's Note

View of Wadi Doan (Doan Valley) from above, Wadi Doan is a tributary of the much wider Hadramawt valley, and much more authentic, and relatively inaccessible, the valley bottom is covered in date palms (and lots of garbage), the dry river bed is the only 4x4 access into the valley, though a new road is sloooowly being built. The fg is the village of Khureibah where I was staying, one of the few basic villages offering accomodation, and sometimes electricity, but always a call to prayer. The photo was taken from the top of an old caravan trail which makes a pleasant 2 hour hike, in late afternoon. Since the low sun never illuminates the valley because of the cliff walls, this was the best light possible.
