Photographer’s Note
"Stop ! Stop ! Stop !"... I exclaimed, jumping on my seat. "A door! I've seen a door". Hussein smiled. He calmly parked his car on the side, and waited for me to take a nth photo of a door. My interest in doors maybe seemed a weird fantasy to him but he was kind enough to grant my wishes...
I had convinced him to accompany me for a "photo competition by night" between the two of us, in Shibam. He had borrowed his father's car for the occasion and we started as soon as possible, from Sayun, in order to reach Shibam for the sunset.
Slightly late, we were not supposed to stop on the way (20 kms) if we wanted to be right in time for the sunset in Shibam but... I saw one door, than another one, than.... you know what I particularly like in journeys?
Improvisation!
But while our own improvisations are sweet to ourselves, this is something that can easily drive someone else crazy. Specially someone behind a steering wheel...
Fortunately, my friend Hussein, (thanks to him!) kept his calm and good mood ; his car (and us) didn't finish in a crash and I took almost as many pictures as I wanted to, on the way, including this one.
We arrived too late to climb the hill facing the city and admire the sunset from there but... mafi mouchkil!
*"mafi mouchkil" means " no problem !"

I don't have a critique for this picture, I just find it interesting. I like the buildings in the background, apparently made from local materials, and the activity of what looks to be a soccer game in progress. The wasted cars in the foreground say something else too. That even with all of our technology and progress, old ways stand the test of time. That's my impression. I like it very much.

Marine, Yemen is many of those places that is not explored yet hence it has many faces to show to the rest of the world.
I just translate this into my language Darri Farsi mafi forgiveness and mouchkil hardship and that is used for no problem.
If you have moved a few steps left that could capture just one demage car with the background but it is my idea.
TFS.

Bonsoir Marine

Bises

interesting construction, even though I would expect something in the foreground, before the cars...
