Some men spending a very hot afternoon at a teahouse in the city of Mukalla in southeastern Yemen. The streets of Yemen provide an endless number of photo opportunities and very few people seem to have any objections to having their picture taken. The atmosphere is generally very relaxed.
This is a scan of a Kodachrome slide. The camera was a Canon F-1.

Much better colours in this scan! The photo shows the daily life here in a very positive way; I think that I could easily adapt this lifestyle. What´s in the round container, bread or what?

Hello Gert. An interesting snapshot from Yemen. I was before a few years in Yemen. In Al Mukalla I ate the best fish of my life. Yemen is a fantastic country with very love-worth people. Your beautiful photo lets my memories become awake. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Gert! Simple and expressive shot, the tones of colours in this exposition and the moment captured is nice. People in your daylife, great photo!

Despite the scanning the photo is very clear and good sharpeness. Its really a good daily life photo. In some way almost every body seems to like the situation as you wrote.

I suppose it's a occupational injury, but my eyes always seems to go to what ever its written on a photo and become a important part of the impression. ROTHMANS. It realese the picture from being picturesque to be a good daily life observation.
excellent done, is it a radio among the bread?

Hello again Gert,
This one is also very good taste, precious shot of Yemenite people relaxing at the teahouse. I like this bold depiction that reduced the exposure a little and with strong contrast.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

another interesting photo depicting a daily life scene... a multi-portrait photo! the mood of it really seems calm and relaxing. I would say, it has a friendly air.
I like the man sitting on the bench in the middle of the photo. Of all the people present at the place he seems to be the most interested in the process of being photographed :) His moving hand shows that perhaps he was trying to show and/or say something... to you or to others?:)
Thank you! and best regards,

Wow, you've been to Yemen!! Great picture to show the daily life of the people in this part of the world. Hanging out only with same gender friends :-)

You and your camera are providing entertainment for these men who seem to have plenty of time on their hands. Even if they are not drinking tea this seems to be the place to relax, chat and watch. Thanks again for sharing a great street scene scan, Marlene

A relax place to mingle, that's lovely street corner teahouse not only because of the interesting colours but there's so much characters and nitty gritty in there and nothing quite like the good old atmosphere of a place like this. Indeed an exciting sight to kill the time and enjoy few drinks over a cool shaded easy going environment and of great interest, is the curious approving eyes nicely spread out! - they make and liven the shot. I love that famous cig ad too and your handling of exposure is second to none. This is a fine subject matter and your brief narratives. An enjoyable street life capture. Congrats
