This is Dubai`s indoor ski slope, you find it the worlds biggest shopping mall "the Mall of the Emirates" . At the moment the outside temperature is between 40 and 48 degrees but in the ski slope a very cool -10 degrees .
During the night they "melt" off 6cm of snow and the conditions in the slope are so perfecct they actually make it snow, so come moring all the skiers have clean soft snow to ski on, you can see the chair lift taking skiers to the top of the slopes on the left and out of shot,
The picture was taken from one of the resteraunts that over look the snowboard and training slope it was also taken through a very large double glazed window hence the bit of glare.

Oh, finally I see one of these indoor slopes! Man, it's really unusual. good capture under obviously not perfect conditions. I think the worst thing has to be to carry the warm clothes under the sun, up to the building: even holding in the arms a pullover, at 48°C, has to be quite unpleasant.

Helo Adrian

Hi Adrian,
What a lovely shot of this unusual mall its the first one i have ever seen, it looks like the front of a nice winter scene from a Christmas card, nice one Ade,
Regards Irene

Hi Adrian, The Alps in Dubai, a great indoor photo, well managed light & nicely composed, this maybe the only way we see snow in a few years time if the human race dose not change it's ways, I have used one of these indoor skiing slopes & they are great, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

I don't know whether to be amazed or apalled by this image, Adrian. It's certainly a good photo (if a little bit "green" on my monitor). However, what must the carbon footprint of this place be like? The amount of energy to create and maintain a micro-climate like that in the middle of a desert but be stellar! Interesting shot, mate. Paul.

Hallo Adrian!
This impressive photo for me shows the whole perversity, arrogance and foolery of a big part of mankind themed "what we are able to do must be allowed ..." Insofar an important photo. Thank you for showing it!
Greetings from autumnal Germany!
Frank

nice work and all inside too, well done

Hi Adrian
Haven`t seen you for years...:)
Amazing place for fun. I wish to have similiar near to me, but the country must be a little more reach ;). Nice capture.
Regards

It's just amazing to see something like this under the roof - and where else but in the United Arab Emirates!
Well, I suppose, that is because for them Switzerland is
way too far...

Amazing - do they drive it all via solar power? I doubt it.

Been to one of these in the pouring rain in Glasgow, equally bizarre. Much prefer the outside stuff.

An interesting insight.

Hi Adrian, I've never seen anything quite like this so thanks for sharing! It's what this site is (or should be) all about.
cheers

Hi Adrian,
What an AMAZING picture!! Now I know where to go to get uncrowded slopes!! My husband always says that here in SoCal, you can ski in the morning and go to the beach in the afternoon; but here you can just step outside to sunbathe (cook?)

The detail is excellent, at first I thought it was one of those mini-Christmas scenes. The reflection works quite well, giving the feeling of stars.

How have you been? Busy, I'm guessing.
