On April 10 we had a short day in Dubai. Having arrived at the airport at 8:00 am, we sailed out on a cruise at 5:00 pm. The excessive wealth of Dubai resonates at every turn, but especially in its futuristic architecture. There have been many photos of Burj Al Arab, the only 7-Star hotel in the world, posted on Trekearth. From the exterior, the edifice resembles the sail of a traditional Arabian sailing vessel, the "dhow," and was built at a cost of $1.2 billion. A lesser known structure seen in this photo is a cloister-like approach to the interior of the Burj Al Arab, featuring columns and joists of teak. The clean symmetry and the scene caught my eye. And although too much symmetry can be a cliche, where the architect has imbued his creation with symmetry, why not celebrate and accentuate the symmetry.

Hello Dear Professor,
Indeed, we do not see so many details of this famous sail-like building, except its exterior. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, exposed to the lucky ones who can see and show them. Why, this approach with columns reminds me of such tunnels in Japan.
besnard (52851) 2013-05-15 23:58
finlay (1549) 2013-05-16 0:45
The tunnel effect gives a great sense of perspective. Also very good contrast between light and shadow.
Ilducabianco (940) 2013-05-16 1:10
and so this is the famous Burj Al Arab from what i understand.I think it's only the second picture i see of its inside. The long perspective to frame the background is the most evident thing, but also some details are not negligible. And i believe that not even the price of its rooms is "negligible"....
Nicou (119421) 2013-05-16 2:17
quel jeu d'ombres et lumière sur le sol sueprbe et cette perspective ces tons ces colonne on voit tout en fond sueprbe.

Excellent capture this is.
Nice perspective in the wooden floors. Excellent composition. Nice DOF and POV.
jhm (137610) 2013-05-16 5:13
You chose one of the most classic angles for these nice picture, middle of the corridor
Wood constructions gives always a very warm feeling.
A very high quality picture with a lot details, I can feeling the quiet area.
Absolutely a very well picture, sharp and clear. TFS.

great depth and light management in this image.love the shadow play.great pov and depth keeps the eye engrossed.and really like the idea of having so many frames in the actual frame.

Hi dear Bulent
So clear and sharp geometrical presentation makes so fantatsic image at all. Very artstic and elegant image with so peaceful mood. I like this tasteful color touch with good day light so much. Thanks a lot for your sharing and have a good day!

Une superbe perspective, une lumière exceptionnelle et un graphisme agréable par le dessin des ombres au sol.
Gigidusud (14655) 2013-05-16 13:23
Hello dear Bulent,
Great perspective ,nice symmetry and splendid reflections on the floor. Beautiful photo of this interior edifice. Well done!
Urs (14082) 2013-05-16 18:39
What a view, this is a great hall, very symmetric and cool. Your POV could not be better. Also the vibrant colour hues and and shadow- and light management are superb. Well done
mcmtanyel (12017) 2013-05-16 19:09
Merhaba Bülent Bey,
Why not, indeed? Seven-star hotel? Are there even six-star hotels? I thought they stopped counting at five.
Our wait was worth it, another quality photo from a master photographysicist. It looks like your focus was in the near field. Did you experiment with focusing on what appear to be a fountain beyond the cloister?
zoomer (6) 2013-05-17 9:17
Good morning, that is a well centered perspective and it certainly brings the point across.I think the combination of wood and stone is beautiful and the colors are warm and natural. You achieved excellent DOF.Friendly regards,Wolf.
Romano46 (16628) 2013-05-17 10:07
Complimenti! Un eccellente lavoro.
Ciao e buona serata
Royaldevon (28379) 2013-05-17 12:43
This is a completely new building, for me. I love the wonderful symmetry and the rich, opulence that it portrays. The wood has fine textures, whilst the shadows play upon its colours to create interesting patterns./
A really fine shot and one that it would have been impossible to ignore.
Have a great w/e,
ChrisJ (95788) 2013-05-18 6:21
Excellent symmetrical framing with good sharpness and perspective. I like the repetitive patterns formed by the shadows falling across the polished wooden floor and the support columns. A nice frame within a frame shot. Have a nice weekend!

Hello Bulent - great geometric shot created by your long look down the passage here. The lines of shadow on the wood floor really increase the sense of depth, and even the scene through the opposite door is clear - almost like a still life awaiting you. Strong lines and composition to this.
Nice as well to see architecture like this in Dubai - I'm so used to the flying towers of steel that to see something wooden here is a surprise (even if wooden architecture is not exactly common on the Arabic Peninsula). Thanks!
worldcitizen (6723) 2013-05-20 8:46
I like your alternative Burj view. We don't get to see other details, since the building itself is so photogenic. I do enjoy the symmetry in this photo, and the alternating light and shadow created by the walkway. Nice depth, too.
mkamionka (30072) 2013-05-20 13:20
Very attractive geometry, well seen and captured. I like the charming view behind the second arch in the very centre. The shadows on the floor add a nice touch too.
Very well done,
Sonata11 (33223) 2013-05-20 21:20
very beautiful capture of elegant interior architecture with magnificent perspective, wonderfully executed. Colors, sharpness, clarity POV, light are fabulous. Perfectly well done. Tfs.

Hi Bulent, I remember that also before we were very close in Yalta, now we were the same day in Dubai. You started your cruise in Mediterranean, I my great Australian adventure. I came late in evening and then spent the night on the airport, so I haven't seen anything. On my way back I had only short break but through the windows I could see the highest building in the world. Nice shot of this wooden cloister, I like the symmetry and a great perspective. Excellent work.
Graal (96432) 2013-05-21 23:06
very nice photograph here. I like the perspective and composition. Interesting place, well informations and photo-work.
Have a nice day.
Suppiluliuma (3885) 2013-05-23 6:01
Dear Bülent Bey,
Too much symmetry sometimes distract the viewer, but I guess here, it is not the case.
The sofa on the left prevents such a feeling.
My only nit-picking would be the lack of a human figure presence.
kato (11630) 2013-05-24 19:21
You're capturing well this place by a good perspective and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the wooden cloister with a good design and a good interior. It's impressive in the natural/gentle material and symmetry, too. And, the shadow projected to the cloister draws out an additional good effect in this image.
Noel_Byrne (22751) 2013-05-28 5:08
A wonderful deep view we have through this wooden cloister, it looks superb. The light throughout the scene is really appealing too. I love how clear the view through the end of the tunnel is too, we can see right to the plant in its pot!
All the best
aguilarjlr (141) 2013-05-28 17:49
It reminds me a Buddhist temple. It's beautiful the line that is projected to the end. The view covers the hallway and ends in a beautiful relaxed circle at the end of the road.
leonorkuhn (16235) 2013-05-29 6:27
Great composition. I like the very good perspective, the play of light and shadow and reflections on the beautiful wood floor. Wonderful colors and sharpness.
delpeoples (52897) 2013-05-30 6:15
Merhaba dear Bulent
A visually stunning and technically flawless photo. I love the perspective, the wonderful play of light and the impressive textures. The vertical frame was well-chosen here and I like how the arches in the foreground frame the rest of the shot. Lovely work! Thank you so much for your kind words (too kind) about my Malgo photo
jemaflor (82958) 2013-05-31 1:26
Good depth result with this perspective well framed, Interesting contrast with this light, tfs.

Good morning, Bulent,
Very nice psychedelic composition with good perspective! An every tunnel looks attractive for the photographers. Good graphic,an interesting note.
Best wishes from Russia!
macjake (54876) 2013-06-04 4:52
what a city Dubai must be, I can't wait to get my hands and camera lens on it one day :)
1.2 Billion eh? wow...think how far that would go in saving lives in Africa...sigh...but the world doesn't work like that does it...
I enjoy this photo for many reasons, but mostly for its depth, height progression, symmetry and its luminous warm light.
well seen and smartly shot
Enjoy your travels my friend...
and let me know when you're going to Iceland!
photoray (11413) 2013-06-04 17:40
I agree, photographic symmetry can be viewed as a cliché, though I favor symmetry, and your view leads the eye from forefront to background; simple but effective.
In California our archways are usually pine or redwood, instead of expensive teak.
willperrett (6632) 2013-06-07 3:13
Great sense of depth you've achieved here. And I love the warm cross-light on the corridor. Good work.
Hansaphotos (6593) 2013-06-07 14:03
A great idea to show us an unknown part of this well known building. A wonderful shot of this eye-cathing architecture. The repetitive pattern created by the row of columns adds a nice sense of depth to the scene, and I also like the frame in a frame effect. Excellent work! TFS.
Have a great weekend.
nikkitta (14308) 2013-06-24 15:45
If the architect put emphasis on symmetry, it s clever to admire and capture it, playing with contrast given by the light
At the BG is the famous swimming pool?
TRB (13725) 2013-06-27 11:42

It's a pity you are so rarely on TE the last time.
Your photos are fantastic and this photo is example of your talent. I like the perspective and rhythm of the elements of the composition.
gervaso (9805) 2013-09-09 9:24
I like the symmetry and the perspective in your picture! Colors and sharpness are also great! A different view of this place you show us! Wonderful composition!
ourania (29361) 2013-09-26 12:43
I like very much the effect of the architectural symmentry and the interesting and delightful way it gets challenged by certain details, some shadows and the interrupted views through the columns. There's also a wonderful play of successive frames, a lot of pictures within the pictures. The light, the colours, the rhythm of the various patterns and the atmosphere are superb. I also feel fascinated seeing a part the interior of this legendary and "inaccessible" hotel. Joy of the eyes and the mind. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
claudeD (31741) 2013-12-08 11:46
Wow! What an amazing picture. Perfect composition, excellent light managment and very good play with lights and shadows. I like your contribution to TE very much.TFS.
With regards from Luxembourg

you were only one day in Dubai, but as we see you were able to find something original during this time.
I´ve been to the beach next to Burj Al Arab,it´s impressive structure for sure, but you provides us here with something original from this hotel.
I enjoy the symmetry and play of light&shades, which together create so strong graphics of the image.
