Photographer’s Note
UAE National Day is celebrated on 2nd of December.
It is to commemorate the creation of a Federation on 02/12/1971 with 6 Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quawain) joining and Ras Al Khaimah joining later (currently Federation consists of 7).
Before 1971, the UAE were known as the Trucial States or Trucial Oman. The name Pirate Coast was also used in reference to the emirates’ area in the 18th to early 20th century.
2008 saw the 37th year celebration which is clear from the photo.
Just to show the kind of cars young guys drive around here.
