This is the Bulgarian Cristian Orthodox church St George in Edirne, Turkey. The church is a good example of good neighbourship. It was built in 1880 with the approval of Edirne governor Hamit Pasa with the permission of Sultan Abdul Hamid II for the Bulgarian population of the town. The money for the building were given as a present from the Sultan.
in 2005-2006 the church was renovated by a Turkish company and the money was given by the Bulgarian goverment. A service was carried inside on January 22, 2006 by many Orthodox dignitaries: the Eucomenical Patriarch Bartolomeus, the Archbishops of Toronto (Canada) Sotirius, of Chicago (USA) - Jacob, of Italy and Malta - Genadius, of Creta island - Ireneus, of the Carpatos and Casos, Greece - Ambroseus... Patriarch Bartolomeus said that he is satisfied with the friendship among Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria...

You show us an interesting building in a special architectural style. The change of brick walls, quarry stones and white areas looks quite uncommon - but your note even is more interesting - encouraging (?). Are there bells in the tower?
Greetings from grey-wet-cool Germany!

A fine exterior and the brickwork is well reproduced!
The point of vie gives fine lines to the composition, good light renders vivid colours...
Excellent sharpness and good depth in the colours!

Excellent one Anton. You must be an ambassador between religions. I don't think nobody care to take some photos of this wonderful and historical church as very well seen in your photo. This must be also one of another important monument there. Great view from bottom in perfectly detailed facade that easily recognizable mix of many repairs under terracotta brick made bell tower. Congratulations.

Olá Anton, I can recognize some details I saw in some churches in Sofia, many years ago. Good approach that show us well the textures of the facade with a mix of stone and bricks. Nice balance of shapes on top with the sky.

Geia sou Anton,
nice perspective of the St George church in Edirne. The renovation and general its construction with Sultan money in 1880 is a great fact. The presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartolomeus and the others Orthodox dignitaries, really create a satisfaction between the neighborhoods.Well done my friend.
Have a nice afternoon,Danos
