Photographers Note
How long can you wait for...
A bus?
A signature?
A visa?
An increase in the salary?
A new year?
Or for...
A kiss?
A hug?
An "i love you"?
A beloved one?
For the one that has gone and come back, gone and come back for several and several more times?
How many times can you accept an excuse?
How many times can you forgive?
How many times can you forget?
Again and again...
Or it depends?
Depends on what???
.................
Taken today in Eyüp district, a very old district of Istanbul. Old city, old stones, still waiting for something to happen...

Hi Deniz,
Reading your note, that's exactly what I was asking myself; How long do I have to wait before receiving my plane tickets for Turkey from Deniz...
Surprising and intriguing triangle of 3 persons: The walker, the waiter and the photographer... The light is pretty particular here and add a sense of mystery, with these naked trees and... the cemetary?
Again, a cinematographic shot.
Ciao my friend!

...
it's hard to beat the system
when we're standing at a distance
so we keep waiting
waiting on the world to change
now if we had the power
to bring our neighbors home from war
they would have never missed a Christmas
no more ribbons on their door
and when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want
that's why we're waiting
waiting on the world to change
we keep on waiting
waiting on the world to change...

Dear DENIZ,
For the first 5 questions : I NEVER WAIT..
For the next 5 questions : I WAIT A LIFE..
And the next 3 questions : IT DEPENDS..IT DEPENDS..
DEPENDS ON .... HOW YOU CHOOSE LIFE..
I don't know if am right...but I feel this..
Good thought for this day..
I like the trio combination as ANDRE mentions: "Surprising and intriguing triangle of 3 persons: The walker, the waiter and the photographer..."
HOW LONG DID YOU WAIT FOR THIS DREAM SHOT?

Ama sanırım esas soru How long
? oluyor yüzleri birbirlerine dönük iki kişi söz konusu olduğunda. İşin içine How many girdiğinde iki taraftan biri sırtını dönmüş izlenimi bırakıyor bende.
Çarpıcı notunla anlamı güçlendirilmiş çok güzel bir an.
Söz verdiğim gibi, mutlu seneler :)

Cevap veriyorum: Gencken sonsuz sayida, yas ilerleyip deneyim sahibi olup, tahammul sinirin azaldikca 1-2 kez.
Insan beklemeyi biraktiginda huzura eriyor. Zaten beklenen sey geldiginde hic mi hic hayallerindeki gibi olmuyor. O yuzden neyi bekledigini dikkatli secmek lazim, her an gelebilir ve ayvayi yiyebilirsin. ))))
Fotografi her zamanki gibi cok begendim. Ama adam daha romantik bekleyebilirmis, boyle namaza durmus gibi beklerse gelen hemencecik geri donebilir. :)))

Depends on what ? the mood !
very well done POV and framing
the man with white clothes stands out the shadow behind him
the woman in black stands out well from the white wall
so !
it's well done !
a good illustration of what you say
but...
the light !
something tells me you have done a PP with the light, isn't it ? it's a very good work on the light :))
see you in 2008!

Depends how much you love the person whom you forgive and of course how big heart you have.
My dear friend I am sure that you can forgive a lot of times.
A superb shot with the signature of your great new style.
I hope the new year will give to you all these for what you were waiting from the past year and maybe they didn't come and all these you expect from the new one.
With my best wishes

Hello Deniz. An excellent B&W conversion...quite artistic with flamboyant tones that add great drama to the shot. The contrast of the man in the shadows (dressed in white) and the man in the highlighted area (dressed in black), makes the shot so powerful all through the frame...Very good eye here and great way of presenting the final photo.

Great diagonal composition, very moody. The light is amazing, it would have been done for a movie with professional lighting it could not have been done better. This is an excellent work.

Deniz,
I wonder how long you were standing there to get this perfect composition. Not quite sure if the excelent text is absolutely necessary to make the shot work. The image has a very strong story-telling. B&W is the ideal choice!

Hello Deniz,
My wishes of a wonderful Year of 2008 for you and your family!!!
Looking at this photo I get mixed interpretations, it can't be:
- the man waiting for the lady which is arriving
- a blind date :) and he doesn't know who he's waiting for and he's showing some anxiety is it her is it not?
- or is simpy there waiting for something and you were lucky to get him llloking at the arriving lady, but it works anyway, and relates well with your note.
The B&W and the atmosphere of this photo is really good and timeless, as those lines on the ground creating depth and leading the eyes.
Cheers.

Merhaba Deniz,
I am aware that saying that is 'very artistic' is a cliché, and so I try to avoid it, but here it seems much appropriate. The compo is great, every shape present on the image seems to tell a piece of a story or have a certain hidden meaning. There are so many things... the old rock walls, the iron grids, that separate what's inside them from the street while letting the inside visible, the lines on the floor uniting the two persons that even so seem to have trouble encountering themselves... The game of brightness and darkness...
Very inspired and inspiring! Bravo!
Selamlar, José.

Hi Deniz!
The human factor is everything here and this strange tension between him and her. You pressed the button just in the right moment, because this moment is really unique. The architectural surrounding is also presented in a very good way and with a strong taste of history (Is it a cemetery?). I like this shot a lot.
Cheers

Selam sevgili Deniz,

Hi Deniz,
Difficult to tell why, but I feel attracted by this one - it sort of tells a story and you found an interesting place, the outside of an old cemetery, adding mood and emotion to the scene, as do of course the strange light and the fine layer of snow and the traces in it : all this make me think of Orhan Pamuk's novels, again, I don't know which one as I read them all, but already some time ago... What a strange atmosphere ! Great and interesting too !
Best regards from Brussels,
Selam ve sevgiler,
