Photographer’s Note
some small gorges on the Euphrate river, 50Km north of Diyarbakir city, Kurdistan, south-east Turkey.
This region is relatively flat and covered by fields that get yellow in the evening, and no threes at all. The climate is really continental with temperatures reaching minus 40°C in the winter and +40 in the summer.
Just below the place I took the picture, there was a ruined armenian church, reminder of the complex history of the whole region.
Behind me, was a huge irrigation canal built recently that turned the whole Diyarbakir region into a green paradise, but did upset the iraki and syrian neighbors downstream the drying river...

Hello Olivier,
a phantastic shot with phantastic colours ! And your note is very useful, because it tells the cultural, historical and natural richness of this region.
I like the wide horizon on this scene.
You tell about an armenian church - I would like to see it because I`m very interested in old historical buildings in this region :)
Thanks for sharing, and please keep posting photos from the East Turkey :)
Best regards, Ferhat
