Mangal kömürü (Torakçılık) yaparak geçimini sağlayan insanların çalışma ve yaşam koşulları gerçekten çok zor..
Nefes almanın mümkün olmadığı, ciğerlerin dumanla dolduğu o yerde yine de sigara elden düşmüyor.
Bir tuhaf çelişki..

The working and living conditions of these people who are earning their lives by producing the charcoal is very hard...
However, they smoke non-stop where it is not possible to breath properly, where the lungs are getting filled with the coal dust..
that is very ironic...

Merhaba,
This works very well I think. It is an interesting face that tells a story.
The skin tones pop off the screen compared to the grey of the coal dust everywhere.

what an excellent portrait...
the details are great, the man is so natural...
there is some uncertainty in his eyes, or he simply is so tired of his work at the moment...
cigarette is a superb "catching" element but if it were captured with a snaky smoke it would be even better...
anyway - i like a lot this portrait...

Merhaba Hakan,
Adam sigarasından bir fırt çekmiş, tam ağzından çıkarırken kalakalmış. Duman henüz ciğerlerinde, dudaklarının arasından çıkma fırsatı bulamadan birbirinizi yakalamışsınız. Elin duruşu, gözlerin kısılıp kaşların aşağı doğru akıp gitmesi, anın donuşunu pekiştiriyor.
Gözüne sağlık.

I see you are a portrait photographer, something i am not very good at.
But i like this shot a lot, the dirty fingers and face + the ironic fact of the guy smoking when he finally can breathe real air. (I am a smoker my self and would probably do the same)

This photo is splendid IMO, so human ; thanks to your book I can understand better the circumstances in which the photos were take (just checked on the net and found many of the photos of this book here), maybe could you add the link to your note (...and also, more of those photos that you took there : amazing place, amazing faces, not easy lives !)
You did such a great job with this project, I'm full of admiration !
