Photographer’s Note

Preparing for winter...

It’s taken in a quarter called Mahura in the village of Kuruçam on summer.
The woman in the picture is trying to tie dried grasses. She firstly prepares a string from the grasses, then tightens the collected grasses and tied it with the string. And that called “horom”. Then theese horoms are put inside a hut and in the winter people give them their animals to eat.
For raising stock is a very big income source in the village, this work is vital. To cut the grasses with the scythe is very difficult and tiring work and adding that that land is not plate, and it rains very frequently and the sun is weak.

Bu foto kuruçam köyü/Mahura’da yazın alındı.
Fotoğraftaki hanım kuruyan otları bağlamakla meşgul. Öncelikle bağcık hazırlanır, sonra kuruyan otlar birbirlerine sıkıca sarılıp, birleştirilir. Belli bir düzene sokulur. Ve daha önce hazırlanan bağcıkla bağlanır,” horom” oluşur. Sonra bu horomlar merek/samanlıklara doldurularak kış mevsiminde hayvanlara yedirilir.
Köyde hayvancılık önemli bir gelir/gıda kaynağı olduğu için otların kurutulup kışın hayvanlara yedirilmesi önemlidir. Tırpanla otların biçimindeki zorluğa, arazinin engebeli halini, yağmurun sıklığını ve de güneşin fakirliğini eklersek bu işin ne kadar zor olduğu açıkça ortaya çıkar.

Great perspective placing the woman in the left of the frame. Also nice DOF to allow us to see the far mountain side and the little buildings dotting its green slope. Hard to imagine the labor involved and very well done.

a very instructive photo, with this woman preparing the dry grass to feed its animals in the next winter.
Good frame giving protagonism to the woman working, but leaving a great depth of field to the image so that the beautiful landscape of mountains sprinkled of houses in background can be appreciated.

Good idea not to include the sky,as it looks not interresting at all.Doing this keeps the attention on the lady,who is placed facing the end of the photo,lettig us see her work done behind her.

It could be one of this photos...
People at work...The great scenery...Beautiful colors...
But...There is a serious 'but'...
Her face is almost un-present, and her hand is in the middle of some movement...
Also: I'm not quite sure if placing this woman at the left (exiting) edge of the photo is such a splendid idea.
And you've been there...Taking pictures!
Should you take several of them to be able to choose the good one...
Oh, well...
