Photographer’s Note
It doesn't sound like much, but this giant underground cistern built by Justinian in 532 and later consacrated as a basilica is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Istanbul. A wooden walkway winds between the pillars, and lights and piped music add to the eerie atmosphere. --wikitravel.org
The cistern was decorated with balloons for Christmas and New Year. The place is frequently used for classic and jazz concerts.

Hello Denis, welcome to TE. And what an impressive start, great shot I love it! Very good composition and light, with all the little balls, such an interesting atmosphere. I wish I could pop in for a jazz concert it would be wicked...
Thank you for sharing and keep posting good stuff like this!

Hi, Denis!
Good focus and composition with reflection! The balloons brings some charm to this place, of course. It looks so strange - like modern installation.
Regards,
Natalia

this shot is simply amazing. it looks like one of those artist posters you buy at college poster fairs; something interpreted from a fantasy or science fiction novel; the pillared pathway to the demon's lair. . . or something. ;)
anyway. it's perfectly constructed. if i picture it without all of the balloons, it is a very nice shot. the reflection of the pillars and the converging perspective they create lead the eye nicely into the photo.
now, add the balloons and the photo moves to another level. they look like floating globes of white liquid. the randomness of their placement and size plays perfectly over the mathematical symmetry of the underlying image. simply magical.
this is in my favorites. great job.
