[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hagia Sophia was built in the 6th century and was the largest indoor space at that time. After the Ottoman Empire took over Istanbul in 1453, 4 minarets were added to the existing church and it was turned into a mosque. Hagia Sophia remained the largest indoor space in the world until the Ottoman Empire constructed the nearby Blue Mosque. The Blue Mosque was a statement that the emperors were trying to proove that they could do it better and bigger.
After the Republic Of Turkey was founded, Hagia Sophia became a museum and is still considered one of the architectural wonders of the world.
