Photographer’s Note
This is the first photo of my Cappadocia series. We visited this Turkish region in september and I was simply amazed by how erosion can alter the landscape. The soft tufa-stone has been worn away over the millenia leaving unearthly looking cones and pillars that dot the region. Early Christians carved out churches, homes and entire cities from the soft tufa, making human presence blend in with nature's work. It's a mission impossible to describe Cappadocia: you simply have to see it.

Wel zeer eigenaardige optrekjes, daar in Cappadocia, Gerd. Goed en scherp weergegeven, met mooi kleurenkontrast tussen het groen van de bomen, de wit-grijze puntgebouwtjes en de fel blauwe hemel. Mooi gedaan.
Groet ... Tars

Nice shot Gerd, I have always wanted to visit Cappodocia but have never made it. The fairy castles are amazing.
This is a nice sunny shot with good colours and details.
Thanks for sharing.
Michael.

Hello Gerd,
There have been quite a few photos of this region on TE lately - or perhaps it is just that I always notice them as they are so fascinating to me!
Your photo is quite unusual in that it features some composition (!) - some thought about placing these formations within the frame of an interesting photograph. I think you have done this admirably here, and made a very good image.

Colin

hI Gerd - well balanced composition showing the strange landscape. Good exposure and detail in the shadows, I can imagine the light must have been quite strong.

This is a most magnificent TE shot!
The pictureitself is absolutely wonderful, but the sighting is worth even more! I'd never known about this and it seems like heaven! How much better could humans utilize the resources at their hands? What an excellent sight and what a brilliant place! This is definitely somewhere where I should absolutely go!
TFS such a unique sight!
All the best and much more!
